There will probably never be a story again like it. I just wondered what we all thought of the media coverage of the ongoing rescue mission? I personally think it will become one huge news story (even more huge than it is already) as and when the miners start to emerge from the stricken mine. I thought that perhaps some of the major news outlets would have stationed senior anchors on location, given that this story has become one of global interest.
As far as I can detect, the BBC has Tim Willcox on location as it's senior anchor, and CNN has Carl Penhaul. Not sure about Sky, ITN or AJE. As I write this, BBC World has started rolling coverage of the story, with Owen Thomas live in London and Tim on location.
I expect this story to slowly unfold and explode over the next few days and I, for one, will be perched on the edge of my seat as the miners start to emerge. I guess it will be broadcast live in most areas.
Good luck to those guys. In this day and age of doom and gloom, this is one story which - despite the incredible circumstances - does have a feel good element and which is unlikely to be repeated, ever.
Is Kay Burley still not there???????????
Edit: Just learned from another thread that Andrew Wilson is there for Live at Five.
