You are joking aren't you! I'm expecting Alan Partridge to pop up any moment!
They had the Yorks equivalent of AP, Paul Hudson. Actually I thought it was good little show , plenty of human interest without too much hysteria or apocalyptic predictions except one from Hudson.
Christa's probably been waiting years for a big one like this and when she finally had her chance she didn't blow it.

To be fair, I had no knowledge of any perceived local eccentricities of the presenters, and thought that they all did the required job in the circumstances.

You seem to use the word parochial as if it's a compliment!
As I've said in the News 24 thread, the woman in the community hall was awful - "I've even had to borrow one woman my lipstick", and one of the reporters was so contrived it made viewing quite painful - "Cars washed away like so much flotsum". She tried to work that sort of rubbish into every sentence. Is she writing GCSE level poetry or doing a report for the BBC?

For what it was I thought it was good, parochial and to the point.

Penny's just done the "if you've been affected by the issues..." announcement after the documentary, and introduced the film.

In recent times, they've just recorded the network and played it all out timeshifted. Interesting if they are going to use local idents
It was Penny Bustin doing the announcing

I do actually, some sympathy, compassion and friendly interviewing was required. Allowing people to go on about birds left behind made the story work.

Good job it was Look North Leeds making the special programme. Alan Partridge-ness is quite low compared to certain other nearby regions
I don't think Paul Hudson is an Alan Partridge, he's just very pasionate about his subject
The lipstick line was a good one. That's Christa Ackroyd, women of the Yorkshire people, a bit like what Paul O'Grady is to Liverpool!, To be fair she is good at this type of reporting unlike some other presenters. I also presume Harry Gration is on holiday this week so has missed the drama
On the whole it was good stuff though. At least they were looking on the bright side (no pun intended) and following the human side of the story rather than 'Let's hope the dam bursts' like you can see 24 hour news channels are excitedly hoping
There was no extra programme on Yorkshire ITV but I expect there would have been if ITN hadn't taken over the 7.30 slot themselves

Made me laugh at her and think, what is this nonsense doing on a 24 news channel? Car bombs are going off in Baghdad, people are being murdered, children are being abused, the clmate is going crazy, and I'm having to hear about a woman and her budgies!

in the past when bbc mids have opted out they have dropped see hear, with no explanation to the viewers. a static caption and v/o in place of one of the myriad of trails which get played would have been nice. having said that, on these occasions they usually slot lots of local trails between progs which is nice

Does that mean that Leeds is going to be in control until News 24 at 4.30? I suppose they could drop See Hear to catch up with that 30 minute gap.

To be fair, that's not a criticism of the programme though, but one of News24 for deciding to run with a programme that was bound to have such interviews in it.
