Allowing people to go on about birds left behind made the story work.

Made me laugh at her and think, what is this nonsense doing on a 24 news channel? Car bombs are going off in Baghdad, people are being murdered, children are being abused, the clmate is going crazy, and I'm having to hear about a woman and her budgies!

Thats bringing the story down to a human scale , when we had the New Orleans disaster there were countless people with their seemingly petty issues being given plenty of air time. For old woman worried about Budgies going hungry read She just wants to go home but she can't as its full of stinking mud and water.

To me this is a big story unlike the indifferent or cynical types on TVF ( who thankfully will never be news editors ) who i can't understand why they don't care. Isn't Northerners having their homes and lives disrupted sexy enough?

They had the Yorks equivalent of AP, Paul Hudson.

I guess that depends on whether Hull is stil considered to be part of Yorkshire these days!

Nice to hear that N24 took this special, were there any obvious changes to the presentation for news 24's benefit like name astons that wouldn't usually be shown for people like Paul Hudson? Are Look North's graphics ticker-safe for N24?

Well they put a name caption up for Christa Ackroyd!

On the whole I thought that the news special was a good mix of the personal stories and the authorities explaining how they intend to improve things. I also thought that all of the team did well covering all of the major locations, although I was a bit surprised that Christa popped up in Dinnington bearing in mind she'd been in Middlewood for most of the day.

The only criticism was of Christa Ackroyd constantly going on about the cups of tea she had and how vital they were. I got the idea the first time round; I don't need to be told again five minutes later about how significant the cups of tea are.

I see that no set had been put up in the studio last night either with Penny Bustin sat on an office chair with no other furniture.

Clare F presenting a "special edition" of LN tonight with somebody else, to do with the flooding.

She was on Brekkie duty today too - long day!

I didn't see any evidence of Clare? Unless she was sat in the studio waiting for the OBs to go down?

I think that was her job yes, because she did the headline in the 6 opening, but I only saw it briefly so it may have been Penny.

Although they did make some sort of effort by turning the lights light blue. I didn't like Penny on that chair - she looked as if she was going to slip off it any minute. And why did she not look at the screen when talking to Blunkett? And body know?

Sods saw: It's tipping it down in Sheffiled, army called to Doncaster power station to assist with flooding. Not looking good at all, and of course it had to happen as the Blair coverage commences!

Why would they have struck the set since the lunchtime LN?

Thought the Leeds Look North was very good, proper local coverage. Nothing from Levy Luvvies HQ.

Tonight Calendar managed to cover stories on the Wolds in the East Riding. Look Hull managed to talk about Hull & Hull & Hull a bit of Lincolnshire & Hull & Hull &...

With a bit of luck the Umber will over flow Victoria dock and Peeta will float off into the North Sea never to be seen again. Laughing

I'm watching Look North on News24 now impressive programme so far.

You are joking aren't you! I'm expecting Alan Partridge to pop up any moment!

They had the Yorks equivalent of AP, Paul Hudson. Actually I thought it was good little show , plenty of human interest without too much hysteria or apocalyptic predictions except one from Hudson.

Christa's probably been waiting years for a big one like this and when she finally had her chance she didn't blow it.

Hull is very much part of Yorkshire these days. In the geographical/ceremonial county of East [Riding of] Yorkshire, despite the city standing alone from the administrative entity of EROY.

Paul Hudson 'Alan Partridge' Shocked ... he's nothing compared to His Levyness!! Laughing Confer my six items of evidence a few pages ago Wink

Let's hope that the Hull Tidal Barrage doesn't fail eh Troggles Wink Anybody playing the LNH drinking game would be plastered tonight, given that Levy was in "thank you very much indeed" overdrive tonight!!

Is Christa's starting every other sentence with "You know" starting to get on anybody else's nerves?
