It's clearly not that obvious, as the press conference today is at 7pm, and there wasn't one at all yesterday.

Yes I made that post before the press conference today was moved to 7pm. It shouldn't be broadcast on BBC One in Scotland, NI or Wales though. In the nations it should be shown on BBC 2.

Still only a network version of BBC2 at the moment which means we have the ridiculous situation of hospital documentaries on both BBC1 and BBC2 in Wales tonight at 9pm.

Is still important the broadcast is shown in the nations but perhaps like last night let the nations handle the analysis. Many of us are on the border too - indeed there is a house a couple of miles from me which has the border run through it so whether you should work might depend on which bedroom you're in.

BBC 2 Wales has existed for as long as I can remember? There's no English regions version of BBC 2 but the nations have their own versions of BBC 2.

On that argument though, the First Minister's press conferences in Wales, Scotland and NI should be broadcast on network BBC 1 and the NC as well. Yes, Boris Johnson is the PM of the UK, but on Coronavirus, he speaks just for England alone. And on the measures regarding lockdown, he most definitely now speaks for England alone. So as not to confuse viewers in the devolved nations, his press conference tonight should not be broadcast on primetime BBC 1 in all nations, but instead on BBC 2 Scotland/Wales/NI and only on BBC 1 in England, where it matters.

Thank you very much to you all.

You're welcome, but what does he say?

As the geek says.

Thank you very much to all.

Surely you can't be serious... Wink

BBC2 Wales and BBC2 NI were suspended at the beginning of this crisis. BBC2 Scotland ended when BBC Scotland launched and unlike its predecessor isn't used for network content bumped from BBC1.

That is strange then, especially as BBC 2 Wales listings tonight show Normal People in the 9 - 10pm slot, where as BBC 2 England is showing Hospital.

Perhaps they've brought it back as an exception this evening? [Edit] (and tomorrow and Wednesday)

It was mentioned here the other day that the BBC2 nations are now back on air. BBC2 NI certainly is.

Missed that news - many apologies.

Must say Parliament works so much better with the questions coming in by video link.

Very odd that this statement by the leader of the opposition is only on BBC One.

Could they have not packaged it as a Party Political Broadcast and hence it would have been shown in all the places at all the times they usually are?

I believe Party Political Broadcasts are only allowed in the run up to elections, which are a legal requirement as we don't allow party political advertising in this country. Happy to be corrected though.
