Given that the BBC One page still features the circles identity, almost 2 years after they ceased to be used, I can't see the BBC Two page being updated any time soon.

There was no ident for the junction just before midday on BBC Two Scotland. It was a straight cut from BBC Newsroom Live to the titles for First Minister's Questions.

I wonder how well some of the idents will fare after encoding for some of the lower bitrate uses!

You can see from the above that they all have the same pattern of animating over 7 seconds, six times - some of them repeat the same back-and-forth, some are different each time.

If anything needed changing, it was the logo. Looks plain and cheap in comparison to the new fonts and graphics.


Not saying I expect it to happen, but if there was to be a general overhaul of the channel logos for example whenever BBC One eventually rebrands, it'd be a very easy tweak to change the logo at the bottom. I'm sure someone somewhere is already rustling up a version of this with the 1997 logo.

This ident in particular does not look so good in standard definition.

Watching the closedown from last night makes me wonder if they've remembered to update the 'This Is BBC Two' barker overnight. Might we see the old idents re-appear tonight?

With all due respect, I'm not sure that 'Son of Rulers' makes much sense, because there's never been a BBC2 ident called 'Rulers'.
