There are a lot of French speakers here in London and not just from France. My neighbours are from the Ivory Coast and there are other speakers from Africa, such as from the DRC.

SBS Australia broadcast news bulletins from around the world every morning:

And this is what the Chinese-language news from San Francisco's KTSF looks like:

Actually, I'm surprised that none of the British local stations have gone the ethnic route, at least in certain dayparts.

In Toronto and across Canada is a network of English/Foreign language stations that cater to niche markets. Its called OMNI TV. All of the foreign language offerings is supplemented with popular English language programming.
Here is the channel promoting their online offering.

Chicago has a 24hr Polish language tv station POLVISION

A channel catering for the broad mix of ethnic and social groups in London would definitely be in a strong position to perform well. Carriage on Sky would also help to boost it with national audiences topping up the figures. It also deals with one of the core issues we're witnessing with many of the current crop of local TV stations. Re-broadcasting is a cheap filler, but a channel that re-broadcast output that wasn't currently (or at least easily) available here would actually provide something different. That said, it's worth nothing that Omni TV in Canada has repeatedly requested permission to scale back its international commitments in recent years. Far fewer languages are now catered for.

A channel for London focused on news and music programming from around the world, and also pitching to specific demographic groups with shows targeting the LGBT+ community, on an access-format rather than produced by London Live, could easily take off.

Isn't that what That's Manchester used to do before it became a loop of old films and news?

Noticed a second ex That's TV reporter on London Live, Alex Iszatt formerly of That's Oxfordshire. She joins Tanya Francis from That's Surrey as part of the reporting team.

On a completely insignificant (but pres-related) note, I see that LL has reverted to its original DOG.
They had just been using the two arrows/chevrons making a square since their pres refresh. Now the full logo is shown with the channel name.

Not really new, it's been like that for months.

Sky carriage out of region may require more money to be spent on acquired content rights, archive and stills etc. AIUI London Live may only be paying for rights to broadcast within their region, which reduces costs. If they had tp get UK+Ireland rights, or just UK rights, that might increases costs significantly.

LL block some content from the online stream, so there's definitely some London only rights.

ESI Media apparently in talks to sell off London Live. Made and That's (please no) have been listed as potential buyers, as is CBS and Discovery.

Was bound to happen eventually with how badly the local TV experiment has done.

I first mentioned this back in April (18 April). They've been looking to offload it for a while now but no-one is interested. If anyone does buy it they will pay a pittance for it and likely gut it and start all over again. I wouldn't want to be on this ship when it goes down.
