Maybe they're nicking stories because they were too busy editing their already naff titles to put in some even naffer looking Christmas shots.

Speaking of using things from outside their patch, the Emley programme had its weather picture from Scunthorpe tonight - not even Belmont used that one.

A fair bit of Scunny can't get Belmont and so take Emley!

On the other hand a Yorkshire and Humber service wouldn't go down well with some (personally I'm proud to be born in Humberside, live in Barton and have little interest in stories from the Lincolnshire County Council area, but some do feel the connection to Lincolnshire)

I think you've just made the argument for Local TV, if it was being done a bit better. I was born in Leeds and now live in Huddersfield (really should get around to changing my user name) and am not particularly interested in Chesterfield, York and Scarborough. I think every region has that same problem of being too big.

That's why they could show two BBC1's with the space digital has which would both broadcast on the Belmont and you choose the region for your area covered (the only difference would be which BBC1 region would be the channel one slot and the other further down on the EPG listings)

What 'spare' digital space would the extra BBC 1 region use then ? With 700 MHz clearance underway now, there'll be even less spectrum available for DTT

I remember years back on DTT think when it was ITV digital BBC1 had the red button for regional news when BBC1 was only England - but maybe that would not be feasible

It was Sky that had the option of choosing between certain English regions on the red button. DTT had UK Today.

No, as London Lite says, that was Sky.

There's only one area where folk have a choice of regional TV on DTT, Gloucestershire, and the Ridge Hill transmitter. [1]
It carries BBC and ITV West Midlands, and also ITV West on a separate mux. The BBC haven't chosen to also carry BBC 1 West on that mux.

[1] There is also Caldbeck that has a full set of three English PSB muxes, and three Scottish PSB muxes (and the 5 COMs)

The only realistic way of getting regional news that is more relevant to your area is via Sky/Freesat or the iPlayer.

The BBC instead of providing terrestrial relays of neighbouring regions is to use postcode mapping for LCN 101. This works when editorial regions overlap, so for example if you live in Dartford, Gravesend, Sevenoaks, Redhill or Crawley, BBC SE is the default, when on Freeview, BBC London is the region with the strongest signal.

Levy sounds like he's been taking interview tips from Liz Green on Radio Leeds, she uses all those lines as well.

Yeah I think Peter did lunchtimes on Radio Leeds and may have crossovered to or from her in the schedules.
