No live weather forecast on Spotlight this evening. CI had Alexis Green with a pre-rec from Southampton (PQ was iffier than usual) and Holly Green who was on the early shift with another pre-rec for the SW.

I also wondered why there was only a recorded weather forecast, it's not as though there aren't enough of them in the team to be able to do it, especially for the main evening programme.

Lucy Martin helped out the Plymouth hub a couple of weeks back, but she was on a network shift today.

Holly Green is leaving Spotlight after tomorrow's early weather shift. She was surprised at the end of tonight's 1830 with flowers and a montage of her best/worst appearances.

That's going to leave them rather short then with Bee having just gone on maternity leave. I presume Emily Wood will be returning. At least they still have Dave with his cheeky wave at the end.

Single headed presentation perhaps?

I don't think I've *ever* seen a double headed weather forecast...

D'oh!
I couldn't watch the video so assumed it was of the primary presenters!

And Dan Downs, who used to do forecasts for ITV Westcountry, and now comes on as cover occasionally, as part of the weather hub for Spotlight, Points West and South Today. Plus, they have the option to call in Kevin Thomas who is the forecaster for BBC Radio Cornwall and BBC Radio Devon in the morning, but he's usually based in Truro.

Is Spotlight's weather forecast any longer than other region's? They always seem to go into a lot of depth and the presenter has always been a big part of the team.

I believe that weather presenting is something of a sideline for Dan (as it was at Westcountry) and he is more often to be found in the gallery. He does occasionally do an wonderful online forecast in broad Deb'm dialect, though.

I'd actually been half-expecting that David Braine might leave as part of the upcoming changes as he also has a 'day job', as, I seem to recall, a project manager at the Met Office in Exeter.

That's correct, he's usually the studio director for Spotlight, but he might be making more on-screen appearances for a short time.
