And now Mark Webster's summary has been played twice back to back at 1.55 and 2.00 - a bit obvious when he fluffs the same lines in the same way twice Rolling Eyes

News Channel overnights are a mess - even if they can't run to a live service, they could surely produce something a little slicker than they do at present.

What's with the double-heading on the NC this morning? Felicity Barr and Steve Scott have been presenting together.

I just caught the end of Steve and Felicity's 'breakfast show' this morning, though the 1100-1145 segment was not double-headed as billed on itv.com

Anyone know why they had a double-headed sequence today? It's not such a big news day today. Just an experiment with different presentation?

Steve & Felicity did well together, they kept having a laugh and a joke beofre the break and Steve said something about woman after one sotry and Felicity started poking him with her pen.

They also used their resources excellently, Felicity used the big screen to give a presentation of EuroStar train speeds, and to read the sport they went over to Alex Thomas in the ITV News room. Perhaps this was a tester, I hope they make it permanent!

John Draper has also done overnights.

Yeah Mark Webster should stick to reporting and if I was in charge I'd send him to Moscow, I know he's already done it but someone has to be Moscow Correspondant... unless someone else does it. (Paul Davies, John Draper, Chris Ship, Harry Smith, Romilly Weeks, Joyce Ohajah, whoever)

Oh and yesterday I was very impressed with Neil Connery's exclusive from Zimbabwe. I can't imagine Tim Ewart doing that, but he's getting old and I guess he wouldn't be able to run through a car park for his life carrying camera equipment.

I can't understand the appointment of Tim Ewart at the helm of the Sports Department. He's more suited to harder hitting journalism, Sport seems a bit lightweight for him.

Mark Webster used to be a newscaster many many years ago when ITV started broadcasting throughout the night. He used to share the ITN Morning News with Zeinab Badawi, when it used to be one hour long.

The channel is being double-anchored again, this time it's with Lauren Taylor & Mark Austin.

Again, as yesterday it is not a particulary busy news day, nor was it scheduled on itv.com be be dual-anchored.

Are these random tests to see if this system improves the channels output or something? Do any people at ITN know?

And they went over to Mary in the newsroom for details of the Evening News as well. Pointless, but a nice touch nonetheless.

The live NC gallery-cam should make its appearance soon. It was being installed on my last shift (Monday 15th Sept). I'm surprised it hasn't made its debut yet.
