Also somebody quoted an article in the Press Gazette about ITV News this week in another thread about a state-of-the-art set to be rolled out early next year. Any details on this yet, or is it all under wraps, or not even at the drawing board stage yet ?
Talks of a possible virtual reality set. Nothing set in stone yet though.
Apart from the piece by Chris Shaw, there was also an interesting piece on ITV regional news, including this from ITV's controller of news, current affairs and religion, Steve Anderson:
Steve Anderson, quoted in this week's Press Gazette posted:
“There have been clear division lines drawn between ITV national news and regional news and we think we should break those down and make people start thinking of ‘one ITV’ again,” he says.
“Journalistically, I think we’ve done a lot already.
We’ve gone a long way towards reintegrating national news with regional news. A couple of years ago we appointed two national correspondents, Geraint Vincent in Wales, and Martin Geisler in Scotland. These people belong to ITV News and ITV regional news: when Geraint is not working for ITV, he’s working for HTV; when Martin is not working for ITV, he’s working for STV. We’re doing that more and more with regional correspondents. It’s a model for the future.”
It's been interesting to see London Tonight's Simon Harris doing a lot for the News Channel - especially at weekends - recently. He also covered Brent East for them.

Yeah he's not too bad, ITV also use Damon Green from London Tonight as well, I like him too.
Have to say I am quite impressed that Juliet Bremner has not only reported at a weekend, but reported from another country at the weekend. Also pleased to see Joyce Ohajah and Andrea Catherwood.
OK, I know most people wouldn't have heard of Lord Williams of Mostyn and he was hardly a prominent figure, but I find it a little bit worrying that the death of a cabinet minister isn't deemed worthy of a brief mention on tonight's ITV Weekend News.
(It's the second story on the News Channel, though)
There's a special ITV News type programme going out on ITV1 at the moment called
Hutton: The Story So Far
It is a special debate programme is is being led by ITV News' Political Editor Nick Robinson. It will be repeated on the NewsChannel later this evening.
Does anyone know what happened to Football Extra at midnight? I tuned in and it was the normal repeated news, I stayed watching till about twenty-five to one and still no sign of it?

The guy producing it didn't have it ready in time. He'd been really dropped in it because he'd never done it before, he'd only had a half hour of training on the show, and he was doing it all on his own - writing, voicing, editing etc. I'm afraid things like this will happen if staffing levels are pared to the bone.

How ridiculous, they should be ashamed of themselves. They plug it all day and then it doesn't go out in time, pathetic.

After last week's Mark Webster poorness, Owen Thomas is back this week on the late shift, and making a point to stress that Alastair Cambell "used the 'F word'"!
Isn't he always on good form though? I think he should be on a more important shift, not the pre-recored one. He should co-anchor the Breakfast shift with Felicity.
