Nicholas Owen was working overtime today, doing the ITV Evening News. He finished the show, out of an item about the nude rambler, by saying "John Suchet will be here, fully clothed, with the ITV News at Ten"
The ITV News Channel now has Andrew Harvey AND Rachel Mctavish in the studio presenting with some studio guests, some guests in the newsroom and Dan Rivers reporting live from the High Court!
Ive forgotten how good Andrew Harvey is - he should be doing more primetime bulletins!
Yes, and already thyre better than News 24. If ITV News Channel was given the funding and most of the effort turned out like this, they'd competing with Sky, let along Snooze 24.
It is excellent coverage, shame it only appears to be for this morning It's good to hear the anchors views on the inquiry and different factors of it, it adds more depth to the single anchoring system.
Im not saying that Sky's coverage in bad but its just built up into this BIG production with loads of flashy graphics, big screens and has added this 'razzamatazz' element to some series news.
News 24's coverage has been REALLY boring and I couldnt stay with it! Sky's has been good but too over the top rather than getting to the guts of it - even if HTV's Jane Secker was the main live reporter for it!
Whereas the double anchor of Andrew Harvey and Rachel Mctavish has been really refreshing - just two people relaying the news as it happens and discussing it between themseleves and with some guests has made really good tv viewing!
NOTE TO SKY - you dont have to 'dress-up' all your news coverage with fancy graphics and sugary sweet animations and huge screen - just put the facts out and get on with it!
ITV News Channel have seemed to lose a few advert breaks this morning as well to stay with this story!

I was watching early this morning during Felicity & Andrews shift and the ad breaks were regular, but since the inquiry has started they didnt have any breaks for just over half an hour.
They certainly are 'Breaking News For Britain'.
