Points West is up to its old tricks with the theme music, its got a mix that I've not heard anywhere else - sounds good, have a listen on iPlayer.

It's not the first time PW has gone it alone. Remember when it has the bespoke mix that sounded like a car alarm going off when it first took the old BBC Three News set.

Ooh, no, I don't like that at all. It's a horrible merge of the music from one of the stings and the end of the main titles. Eww. Quite nice transition effect in the headlines though. Also, they seem to be bringing in the old sofa and coffee table desk in to put the other side of the stduio now - quite odd mix there!

Wow that's bad. More inconsistency in BBC regional news.

It sounds like someone fired off the short version music and the long version music, at the same time. Not certain that this is a new mix, maybe a foul up.

Its the second time I've seen it, its not a mistake.

So thats 4 mixes now in England?

1) new Points West mix
2) London/spotlight
3)Midlands today
4)channel islands/south east today

And the supposedly generic theme tune

I have noticed that East Midlands today have added the 'vamp' to the end of the original titles

Yes I think so as well as other regions

That's odd, in ten o'clock news points west reverted to the old theme music to open. One to add to the inconsistency list.

Anyone know why Points West is coming from a green screen studio?

Maybe yet another New Set.
