Seriously, the set is mostly created with photographic blow-up textures, a few Christmas decorations and a bit of creativity - the whole lot could probably have been bought from a discount retailer for a few quid. Kudos to whoever was responsible, though (what a shame there's no TVF Christmas tree thread this year)!

Spotlight have reverted to using the "bar stool and bistro table in front of a screen" set up for the Breakfast bulletins today.

Last night’s evening bulletin with Victoria had the old titles present on the plasma on the closing shot.

Here in the West, we got the BBC London 06:25 bulletin with a Points West-branded aston saying something along the lines of "Apologies - we're working on the problem" (which disappeared whenever a BBC London aston needed to appear to show e.g. somebody's name, and also during the weather forecast). Dunno whether or not viewers in the London region would've seen the PW aston.

Spotlight for the 6:55 bulletin, with Points West viewers welcomed ‘because of technical difficulties in the Bristol newsroom’.

Same at 725am.

East sub-region got the pre-recorded edition of ITV News West Country this evening.

Today is deadline day for football's January Transfer Window, with clubs making announcements (via various media outlets) about signings/departures of players throughout the day until 11pm.

This made me particularly aware of the drawbacks of news being pre-recorded.

Bristol Rovers (which is the club that I support) made an announcement about a new signing at 6:15pm, which I saw on Twitter. I'll wager that it was announced on the likes of BBC Radio Bristol very promptly.

The sports round-up in the latter half of the programme was of course unable to mention any such up-to-the-minute transfer news, for obvious reasons. The other sub-region may well have mentioned any such breaking news from the likes of Plymouth Argyle FC etc.

I realise that footie is hardly of life & death importance, but it's just an example of the effects of news not being live.
