The issue is the screen looks designed to be part of a different set compared to the rest of the Sky News centre - if they replaced the curved walkway with a straight one and put a SN Arabia style desk in I reckon it would fit in a lot better than it does.

For what it's worth, I rather like the way it doubles up as looking like a plasma just stuck behind the desk, or a big silly telly for all the swishy junk. Seems to solve the problem of the old monstrosity never really being framed properly for anything.

The newswall usage becomes better and better by the evening, now they use ist for nearly all split screens even for the sports bulletins!

BriLliant pan to the papers showed on the wall now! Love this type of presentation, never thought they reintroduce it Smile

Once again we have Breaking News overnight and graphics issues. A split screen minus the location tags and issues with the on screen astons failing to stay on screen during Breaking News. The ticker however, did remain working.

Is this a case of the overnight team not knowing how to use the graphics system properly, or does the Sky News gallery go into some sort of automatic/automation mode where the team can't override anything? I don't ever remember this being a problem up until about a year or so ago. It's almost like the channel shuts down at 1am!

I had watched small amounts of the 5pm & 8pm bulletin's with Jeremy Thompson & Martin Stanford last night.

The newswall looked great when Jeremy linked up with Joey Jones Sky News at Five & when Martin linked up with Amanda Walker from Washington when they was speaking to them from their left hand side.

It is nice to hear that it can be used for even more uses including the Press Review's & Sport's Bulletins.

I just hope it lasts!!

Watching this afternoon, the hustle and bustle of the newsroom sounds quite noticeable as Kay is talking. Reminds me of the 2005 days!

I watched Sky News at 9 with Anna Botting last night with the newswall being used.

It is great to see that not only presenters can use it all the time; but it is also the case for the correspondents like Ed Conway was using it last night for his presentation on the US Debt Deal story.

Anna had also linked up with Hannah Thomas-Peter, Amanda Walker & Aaron Armstrong for the sports.

I thought the preview of some the papers looked really nice on it.

I can't help but feel that a lower, less clunky desk would improve the mish mash of a mess that the studio is currently in. In its current state the news wall and entire studio just looks cluttered and out if sync. If the new red fins are taken out, so that the previous gallery backdrop is left untouched and the new blue backdrop to the left of the wall is continued up to the same height of the wall (rather than finishing half way) it may improve things. Also, adding a movable presentation stand to the news wall may stop the presenters looking less awkward when at the wall.

I normal looking, simple round desk would fit in better than that plastic monstrosity.

Concerning the desk I have the same opinion.
