Those angles would be a little more interesting now, as the light strips that were added to the stairs (I assume) for the election were kept, so that last video thumbnail with Kay would look a lot more interesting.

Your assumption is incorrect - they preceded the election. In fact I’m told they’re quite annoying if you want them to be controlled by a lighting desk although it is, of course, possible.

Just stumbled across this classic Press Preview clip and couldn't help but share...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0e7IE0Zfuw

Three things to note:

1. Textbook Pierce & Maguire. Easily the best pairing on Press Preview across the week and I'm so glad they have stuck around. Can't wait to get them back in the studio post-Covid without all the DTL delays etc.

2. Anna is great. Sky are lucky to have her and whilst she cracks up here, it is perfectly in context with the non-serious discussion, before news became a constant barrage of misery. This clearly also dates back to a time before Sky News started taking itself too seriously and became all the worse for it.

3. That studio. So versatile. I know I am in the minority on here these days in saying this but nothing they currently have even comes close.

Be great to hear your thoughts Very Happy

The only good thing with the social distancing/reducing guests in the studio has meant a couple of more reviewers representing views outside the ‘London bubble’, Nancy Fielder editor of the Sheffield Star, Liam Thorpe from the Liverpool Echo and the name of the Northern Irish journalist - who has also become somewhat regular too - has escaped me. But it’s nice that there’s been a mix of people across the week. That been said Maguire & Pierce are brilliant on Wednesday evenings.

I feel a little creativity with the lighting in general would go along way. The ‘warm’ orange lighting in the evenings is beyond awful. Looks like my nana’s house with nicotine stains all over the walls. Make things looks fresher. After all, the whole point of the glass box was supposed to be an evolution in modernising the output. The light boxes in the corridors don’t add much for me as the placement is so random. It almost looks like they ran out of money before putting more in. All looks a bit messy. I think a few more screens in the background of shots would look much better and even use different lighting to make the corridors less bland. This clip below shows the kind of thing that can be done with minimal effort for big effect.

Great title card and straps too!

I think it is also about time for a new desk in the box. What we have had since 2016 now never fulfilled the requirements of a diversified and optical appealing channel output I feel.

It’s just a desk. What more does it need? A little water feature?

For example, and maybe also a fog machine.

Did anyone catch the flippant comment from the Health Secretary on Sophy Ridge this morning? When asked about relaxing restrictions, his answer... "well I know that everyone at Sky News is keen to be able to get back to having parties..."

Precisely proving the point that the position of some inquisitors would be untenable under the current circumstances. Giving Hancock and Co an easy exit each and every time.

I don't suppose Burley's random Tweet on Friday went unnoticed by Hancock. She really should get back in her box.
