It's another one of those cases where what may work in the US and Canada doesn't exactly work in the UK.

Yawn..... So what exactly was the "The Rundown" designed to be? From outward appearances it wasnt formatted to be anything special. Because clearly its not vastly different than whats already on offer across much of the day. Just a new titlecard and a new face. Not a show designed for the morning. Its got nothing to do with comparing to Canada/US/Australia. Most people dont have the time to settle on the settee with a cuppa every morning and "watch" The Today Programme on Radio 4.

Well, as someone who is ‘watching’ Radio 4 on the sofa with a cuppa right now... Shocked

Anyway, I agree. The Rundown was advertised as a “fast paced” show - it’s a fine show, Niall is great, but fast paced it just isn’t.

The average Sky News viewer watches for 11 minutes (BARB figs). Looking back at this morning’s show, viewers would’ve seen just three stories covered in that time: football racism, Harry Dunn, Brexit. A typical viewer wouldn’t have made it to Syria, NHS care, etc

That is not fast paced.

Haven't had a chance to catch the Rundown yet but if there was a model Sky should aim for with it, I'd argue The Brief on CNNI is the model they should aim for. That show manages to get through a lot of stories within a half hour but also be very comprehensive and has a different feel to the other shows CNN has.

The issue with the later days of weekday Sunrise is it didn't know what it wanted to be - it wasn't overly newsy but wasn't overly cosy/warm either. There was no real reason to watch and I often did wonder the point of them having a weather presenter - they'd spend ages on inane paper reviews or an interview with a politician that goes nowhere leaving the weather presenter about 30 seconds to squeeze in something resembling a forecast. Whereas weekend Sunrise was far better and the Stpehen & Gillian pairing there was very much the USP.

Tests have been spotted for...

I don't have any further information so feel free to ignore me/accuse Photoshop/whatever until we get something more concrete. Still early days so I'm not sure if it's finalised.

Small update on this:

For those interested, it is now testing on satellite on SID 1639 at 12.188 H, SR 27.500, FEC 2/3, DVB-S2, 8PSK. Note that it is encrypted so don't expect to be able to see anything just yet!

The channel is HD only.

It is sharing capacity with Sky Sports Box Office HD. Given there are Box Office events on 26th October and 9th November, it is likely that this will launch between these dates and only last for a matter of days before closing. Because it is sharing capacity (like BBC Four/CBeebies), it cannot be on-air at the same time as Sky Sports Box Office HD.

EPG data starts 5pm tomorrow (that doesn't necessarily mean it launches at 5pm tomorrow!):

"Sky News Brexit-Free
A round-up of all the main non-Brexit news from Sky News' team of correspondents in the UK and around the world."

The opening to The SJM Show is a vast improvement from previous. Nicer camera angles and better lighting

It's still just an empty corridor, desk and screen. Just wish they'd use the atrium shot more.

Not sure how I feel about Sky News Brexit free, appreciate it’s just a short term channel for those fed up of Brexit but actually this final few weeks are the most critical and the outcome will affect every single one of us

It does seem a bit gimmicky. In fact, when I first saw the logo in this thread, I assumed it was all a TVF joke. If they were serious about it, they could have done with launching it over three years ago.
