It's a Bank Holiday and for many people they have witnessed the Mother Of All Thunderstorns or as the wonderful Tomasz says the MOAT. I thought I'd post this great vid of the thundering hot Tomasz

In the pursuit of gender equality, where's the equivalent video for Laura Tobin ?

When you have Tomasz why do you need anyone else??

In relation to thunder and lightning, how are the new BBC Weather Graphics showing where lightning will occur, rather that where it has occured - by flashing a retro lightning symbol up. So far, I have not seen any evidence of any lightning graphics being used - even though the weather forecasters predicting they will occur. The old graphics used to show lightning strikes as they would look, usng the 3D graphics.

In response to my own question, on the BBC News at One, Philip Avery used animated cloud and lightning symbols moving up from the south-east - which have not been used before and not part of the classic old BBC weather symbols - to demonstrate how different weather models (Europe and Met Office) are forecasting this afternoon's thunder and lightning. Ths demonstrates how little confidence the BBC have on the Meteogroup - that they have to rely on other companies models as well, to improve the overall accuracy of the forecast, before resorting to the Meteogroup's prediction.

National weather just failed on BBC one following regional news. Continuity read a brief summary followed by a few seconds of music before going into the usual trails...is it just me or has this been happening more frequently since the changeover?

I’m not sure the sea being red looks that great

They’ve also omitted the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands

They’ve also missed off plastering ‘Birmingham’ across most of Wales.

And the Scilly Isles.

And my mum’s conservatory.

And they’ve added a great land-mass in the shape of the BBC One logo and the word ‘Weather’.

How did you not know about them? They pose a great threat to our nation. They could send in their ships any day now!
