Just had the wrong forecast after ITV Evening News tonight - the forecast from the previous evening with Manali Lukha was played out instead.

Anyone else notice this?

Looks like the pollen forecast on ITV is over until 2021.

I think hayfever sufferers (myself included) across the country are jumping for joy right now!

In the words of Trump - if we stop counting the pollen then there won't be any Rolling Eyes

I don't know if anyone watched Countryfile last night, but during the weather forecast, Schafernaker forgot to put his microphone on.

I've noticed in recent months, BBC Weather has ditched the UK place labels during most of its forecasts, especially as the graphical animation is played. They fade back on screen as the action pauses, before vanishing again as forecast continues.

This is a MAJOR improvement and allows easier viewing of what is happening in your local area and beyond!! Without "Birmingham" and others obliterating half the map.

The place names remain for regional forecasts, which is acceptable, as the map is zoomed in so they don't get in the way as much.

What do others think? Have you noticed?
watchingtv, Ghost and Pompeyfm gave kudos

Hadn't actually noticed but a welcome change.

Why do they have to put place names up at all anyway? Is it because those living in Norwich and Birmingham etc forget where they live in the country? Laughing

Ages ago a trial started where Look North Leeds and another region, I can’t remember which, no longer take the late national weather on weeknights and do it themselves instead.

Do you think with Covid, they’ve forgotten that this trial is going on, as it still seems to be going on with no outcome if it’s a good idea or not, with these regions doing it, and everyone else is still taking the late national weather.

The other region was Plymouth I think, is that still continuing?

Yes, Plymouth remain opted out for an extended combined regional and national weather, then close the late bulletin properly. Far better.

Channel Islands opt back for the network forecast. Not sure how, given that I don’t think they have a NET1 feed in St Helier.

Channel Islands opt switch physically happens in Plymouth, and is remotely controlled from Jersey. (or is the control still in PY?) In effect there are two separate opt chains in Plymouth, with Jersey arriving there as an external source.

So the Jersey director just has to opt back on cue from Net1 talkback and hope not to catch a few frames of the red slide or cut off the start of the weather?
