STV News coming from Glasgow again tonight. I suspect it won’t be too much longer until it’s back to separate programmes for Central and North.

Don't count your chickens. Furlough may be ending soon, but the TV industry is in a perilous state. We may never see a return to separate north/south editions. Long term - my prediction is Glasgow will host GMB bulletins, lunchtime and evenings with opts in the 6pm for West, East, North, and potentially separate localised bulletins late night.

Let’s not get carried away, friends.

The STV News operation (Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen) will return to normal in 3-4 weeks from now.

Whilst I don’t disagree that the recent pandemic has hit the industry hard, it is somewhat reassuring to know that STV News will be back to its brilliant self soon. And all our favourite faces will be there too.

Agreed, James. Apart from anything else, STV has a legal obligation to provide separate bulletins for the two areas and here in the North, the local opt is very popular with viewers. Looking forward to seeing the Tayside team again.

Aberdeen has always dimmed the lights at the end of the bulletin, even going back to the days of Grampian and North Tonight.

I wonder why it’s not done on the central programme’s

For Central, they've always kept the lights up going back to Scotland Today in the mid 90s.

Different production teams have their own way of doing things I guess.

dimming lights at the end of the bulletin always seemed a bit odd to me. Are we supposed to believe the presenters are just sitting there in the dark until the next programme?

Looking very smart and finally they will have a place for studio interviews. Often lives from Inverness came from outside the studios with Inverness Castle in the background.

I assume it will be kelly-Ann and John back from when the central programme returns?
