I get why they’ve decided to go back to a pan- Scottish programme throughout this current lockdown, but surely it is pointless when the news is coming from the Aberdeen studios and Scotland tonight is coming from the Glasgow studios. Two studios with two different teams still have to be used. It made sense during the last lockdown as Scotland tonight was only one once a week and the presenters from the north would present from Glasgow instead of Aberdeen.
The studio presentation is a small part of the overall production on a show like this. Going pan-regional means producing fewer VT packages. The person doing the news in Aberdeen is likely to be doing other things behind the scenes.
STV promotes news producer David McKeith to be editor of STV North division after the sudden death of long-serving Donald John MacDonald in December. McKeith called it a "genuine privilege... tinged with sadness"

Is that screen used for the regional opt on GMB? I’ve not watched in a while as I’ve not had to go out to work last time I watched it was just the stv news desk.
The last time I watched the STV opt on GMB, they were still using the STV News desk. If they're using the large screen now, it'd be a massive improvement on what they were using.
