Get the impression Chris Eakin didn't spend much time around trains as a child. Seems far more excited about being at a steam railway, rather than the story they're actually covering.

Also, this is all going a little badly - jumping on a train 'unrehearsed', then leaping out suddenly because he was worried said train would leave. He mentioned something about the news running order having been running late or something.

ETA: Apparently Matthew and Emily were laughing 'all the way through' the segment.

It was fantastic. Really interesting interviewee and delivered with lots of enthusiasm. And it was very funny too! Fantastic reports, wasn't going badly at all.

About the only two people who would have made the reports more entertaining are two who are both train enthusiasts,
the retired Peter Snow, and the weekend/relief presenter Nicholas Owen.

And I guess it worked quite well for Martine Croxall... strike day presenter, then overnight presenter, now main presenters for BBC NC.

When did Martine break the picket line, and was she a regular presenter at the time?

I remember it was the time when BBC News 24 is using N8, and I don't think she was a regular at that time.

Alice Baxter is presenting the BBC WN news bulletin right now, so I guess she will be the one also showing on BBC Two at 11:30am UK...

I guess it will simulcast, as 11.30am is still "normal".

Think Clive Myrie is settling in now on The Papers. Nice and relaxed last night with Jennie Bond and Richard Madeley. Was a bit tabloid but it's nice to have a lighter end to the day after Newsnight. Even Richard said it had been fun.

Tim Willcox is great when he's on location - right up until he starts trying to interview crowds. He's prodding everyone in sight, and asking them about money and banks - and none of them have a clue what he is saying!

EDIT: And now poor Tim getting shouted at and shoved around by very angry officials - they were trying to cover up the camera and push them all away. Back to the studio now!

He's at it again... this time trying to talk to a chap getting money out of a cash machine. It was cringeworthy.

I'm surprised he didn't try speaking Spanish to any of them as a laugh. Wink

Tim always does a fantastic job on location. But he should stop trying to speak to people who don't speak English when live on air. That man outside the cash machine could barely understand Tim and could only say that "Europe are not helping."

With Sophie presenting now, does this mean that this is the first time Tim and Sophie have been on air together in some form since the 1st November.

It is their first time together. I guess that article from a few months ago about banning them presenting together was correct.

I know she's unpopular on here, but Alice Baxter doing a great job on World News on BBC Two this morning! Good to see she's stepped up to news presenting since that fantastic job she did last strike day.
