On BBC One South, the 90 second update features the BBC News box on Ellie’s stomach as if it was a normal bulletin. However when I popped over to iPlayer to grab a screenshot the box was not there on BBC One London. Did any other regions see this?

The box stayed around across the weather update on BBC One HD. Could it be just an error or are they using it more like a DOG now?

BBC One has been running over tonight, Eastenders ran over by about 4-5 minutes.

This caused the News at Ten to begin at 22:04 and finishing at 22:31. The papers didn't start way until 22:38 tonight!

Interestingly the BBC One post-news schedule was planned to compensate for a 32-minute Eastenders tonight. Although Holby City, Jamaica Inn and the News were advertised to begin at 8, 9 and 10pm (and ran late), the local news was advertised at 10.30 and the programmes following the news were advertised for 10.40.

God forbid they ever start EastEnders early (even though The One Show does every single day).

What was the reason for a longer episode? It had a 35 minute slot on BBC Three also.

You must have seen it advertised, it was shown in every junction across the entire Easter weekend. A dramatic storyline aparantly.

Nope, but haven't watched any BBC over Easter except for HIGNFY and the BBC Two anniversary stuff on Saturday.

I bet they could have got it down to 28 minutes if they'd tried.

Or, at worst, very quietly dropped the 90 second update and (heaven forbid) trimmed the promos for a few hours.

I know this maybe not quite the right thread.... but how do BBC Brighton get away with that awful background for when people are being interviewed from their studio on the News Channel or Breakfast etc? The 'BBC Brighton' bit is nowhere near anything that looks 'on-brand'

I suspect because many of these DTL points have been squeezed into a spare corner somewhere and with very little money available. There appears to be some work going on to upgrade many of these - probably to HD quality for the news channel. Oxford have the new dalek but I don't think it has been used for DTL yet due to some technical problems. They did use it for one of their 90 second updates when they had their studio refresh.

Birmingham's N24 Dalek from 1997 was retired in 2010 and replaced with a DTL room with a chroma-key set up (and they got into trouble for stealing an image for the background!) - They now ironically use a shot of Birmingham from ITV's roof down at Gas Street! It's not even a good view...

Slightly amused me when BBC News Channel crossed to weather on balcony but Rajesh Mirchendani was there instead rehearsing for Outside Source
