Nothing is recorded. It's all live.
We've made some tweaks to bring NC in line with the BBC1 bulletins, to allow standing at the top of single headed and to make greater use of the three screens for the top story in single and double headed.

I'm pleased that stood up presentation was re-introduced last year (as I'm sure you know). Very Happy

Some think its gimmicky, some probably think it dumbs down the output. Personally, I don't think it does because the channel uses it in an effective manner at the TOTHs and during the hour, to present graphics and effectively illustrate stories. Not, the old Sky News way of walking along a massive wall for the sake of doing so.

I was thinking only the other week that the top stood single shot for the nationals could be used for single headed news channel TOTHs as well.

I wouldn't have posted this mildly humorous wrong caption, but for me noticing the lack of Twitter logo. Do they not show that any more? They used to use the logo on overnights and a more generic symbol during News Channel hours, didn't they?

That is right! However they have stopped using the twitter logo version overall on both the NC and World News since about February, if I remember correctly. Not to sure why, it was quite a nice feature!

Also Mariko is named as Kasia, oh dear!

I think the reason it looks like that is because the camera is angled lower in that shot than usual.

News channel never used the twitter bird, they had a red box with a white @
The bird was only used by BBC World News for whom this bulletin above is produced.

Random question to ask. At weekends when does the newsroom go into 'night mode' i.e. when do the blue lights come on? Also are the newsroom lights controlled by the gallery, automatic or does someone physically flick a switch in the newsroom itself?

The blue lights come on in time for the News at Ten or the 10 o'clock TOTH.

On weekdays the lights are switched on while the News at Nine is broadcast and in preparation for the Ten. On weekends, the lights are switched on while Our World is on after 21:30.

If I remember correctly, I remember seeing a vine posted by a floor manager the change from day to night time - and giving the gallery an all clear before the change. So I think are controlled by the gallery.

It's only a change of colour in the LEDs around the newsroom, it's not some super special lights that only get turned on at certain times of the day by a giant knife switch controlled by elves that live in the NBH basement.

The Elves are too busy controlling the cameras...

Whereas World changes into the dark blue sky (night) backdrop at 6G when Zeinab Badawi takes over with WNT.
