Whether you're interested or not, over the last 20 minutes Oscar Pistorious has been giving detailed evidence regarding the actual events that resulted in his partner's death. Probably one of the most important and significant moments of the entire trial. Considering all the surrounding coverage over the last few weeks, it would have been rather odd for the News Channel not to carry it live.
BBC News Channel carrying Daniela Ritorto and BBC World News coverage of the Oscar Pistorius case. Yawn.

I don't think the gallery were expecting him to either, there were no images up on the video screens (which would usually be the reason for standing at the catwalk)
Interesting TOTH there. Rajesh stood up on the cat walk after the headlines which obviously the cameras weren't prepared for, leaving a lot of silence as the camera looked at the empty desk.

And at Midnight. Given the lack of external headlines (regions/sport opt) the turnaround from desk to 'catwalk' would be a little tight - which might explain why Clive was seen from the 'nationals' angle rather than the typical News Channel angle. Though I did wonder when I saw it if the TOTH might have been pre-recorded - as far as I know the News Channel have never typically recorded TOTHs (save for during a recorded bulletin), but given that the nationals, regions and Newsnight all have (or still do), but there might be logic here (late night, rarely a change in the running order) to guarantee a smooth transition to the screens?
The 11 o'clock TOTH used the catwalk after the titles. Clive presented the headlines at the desk and then opened with the top story from the catwalk but facing the way on the nationals rather than during the NC daytime.

I didn't think it would be pre recorded, but thought I'd ask. Are the TOTHs usually live on the weekday six and ten too, or are they pre-recorded? Seem to recall they used to be pre-NBH?
Nice to see you're still tweaking, keeps things fresh.
Nothing is recorded. It's all live.
We've made some tweaks to bring NC in line with the BBC1 bulletins, to allow standing at the top of single headed and to make greater use of the three screens for the top story in single and double headed.

Was that the reason for this mistake earlier in the day?
