It pretty much went like:

9.14am: "This is BBC News, with me Christian Fraser, and I've been awake all night waiting for the details of this bail out to emerge. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is about to give his reaction to the deal... but first, let us hear from Andy Burnham on his plans to win the 2020 General Election."

More breaking news - a case of bird flu has been found in Lancashire.

I guess we'll have to find out about it in the next news bulletin. It's like going backwards 20 years.

Agreed with all of this. An incredibly simple decision could have been made to carry on with the VD programme on BBC Two, but simulcast BBC World News on the News Channel as they had done before 9:15am this morning. Questions need to be answered by bosses after a complete silence since the beginning as to the whole purpose of the VD programme. It's embarrassing.

One of the biggest stories of the year and the News Channel moves into complete irrelevance. Sky News wins hands down.

So, a look around the news channels:

CNN International:

Really weird, this. If appointment-to-view channel CNN can break away from the schedule to give live coverage, the BBC really must be able to do it.

If it were a normal edition of Victoria Derbyshire, then I'm sure they would have. But you've got to see it from an editor/producers perspective - they have all of the Labour leader candidates, all the audience, all the staff and equipment at that location, so they can't really scrap it.

I guess the alternative could have been to run it on 5Live as is and show it as a pre-rec later on this evening on the Channel, but still it defeats the object.

A while back there was breaking news on World and there was a live debate scheduled around the time Global was on the air. They kept going on with the breaking news and aired the recorded debate later.

I don't see why they couldn't record this unless part of the debate was to be interactive but even then they could have rolled it over onto BBC 2. Then again the Greek crisis probably doesn't affect the UK as much as it would Eurozone nations like Germany and France.

Also is green the color scheme of her show? She's wearing a green top, green shoes, and the lighting is green.

They could've just shown it on BBC TWO instead of both channels simultaneously.

Which is why it shouldn't have been on at that time in the first place. Debates should be in the evening so there's less chance of clashes.

I suspect the Greek bailout would have played second fiddle to one of VD's infamous misery interviews if it was a normal edition.

I would like to start a petition to the BBC to cancel Victoria Derbyshire, and replace it with a much more decent show.
