FIVE - a return to pre 2011 Channel 5

As I promised moments ago here is the updated previews/ECPs but with better kerning.

In this one ASO mentioned that there was a clash of colours earlier. I changed the gradient of the circle to a yellow/red one to reflect the idea of sunset.

And I actually think that BBC News Fix's attempt is better than yours, (sorry ) even though it uses ITV Reem.

It looks even worse than before - too much gradient actually. I suggested to have a white background so don't blame me!

Yes you did and I tried it but thought it looked worse because it looked plain. What I'll do is create a white background and upload for you to see - you might prefer I just didn't think it was very good.

Is everything else ok?

The FIVE doesn't work with mine as it doesn't have the FIVE "overlapping" it is centred and does not reflect my logo. Me and HenryL96 as you know have been working on a studio. He is doing all the designs for the set and suggested a logo similar to this and we decided against it as isn't what the actual logo looks like resulting in lack of continuity across the brand.

The logo is actually very nice though and I think for the news part I will include a gradient.

The logo needs to be made smaller so it actually fully fits in the 16:9 safe area which a bit is cropped off at the moment (on the left hand side). Also, get rid of the red in the gradient and just have it yellow (perhaps with a very subtle bit of orange - gradients should be subtle. Keep the white - thats what I think you should do. It will look nice I think. Won''t take more than 5 minutes.

The only time I disagree about the gradient is when it is advertising programmes as saw with Dallas and Big Brother - do you agree?

What do you think of the late preview then? Is that ok purple as the background. The reason I would defend the darker colours is it reflects timing. I think if you are sitting at 10 watching TV and all of a sudden a preview comes up with a bold white and light colours it would be haunting - if you get what I mean?

As requested I have shifted the logo to the right and reduced its size. The colouring is now an orange and less obvious than the red. Hope you like it.

I understand that you wouldn't be following my idea, it is your mock overall!

I just do think that your news section isn't newsy enough.

The news part has been neglected as me and another user HenryL96 are putting together a news studio and it will incoporate all the news bits you are missing now. I say we he is good at designing sets and so he is doing that part whilst I create the logos and stuff.

I have took the liberty of putting a gradient on my news like you did. The was something I really liked - something actually so simple but very effective:



Wasn't sure for caps or not on the news so just kept with what I did before.

Improving constantly, but hate the black in the news logo, needs to be more subtle, and I would remove the gradient from 'NEWS' personally.
