A couple of points:

Scotland again will be doing its own live CA for most of next monday on CA, again due to a Ref YES broadcast at 17.55.

Also here is a lovely page http://www.tv-live.org.uk/wp/index.php/bbc/bbc-two/bbc-two-90s-idents-revival-2014/ for nearly all the idents used over the nations Very Happy

I still don't understand why announcements are not full time on BBC 2 Scotland. Surely a CA is in the booth all day for trails etc

It seems Glasgow does not like doing CA for much of BBC Two, only when there have to, ie 10pm and that pretty much it, Does Glasgow not have the staff?

Wendy from London wrote into 'Radio Times' proclaiming how much "that jolly number two....between the programmes" makes her day and and how much Swan makes her chuckle. In response RT quoted a "BBC spokesman" as saying "I'm pleased to let you know that the plan is to keep these retro idents on air for the foreseeable future and into 2015" . On the downside it's a shame this doesn't seem to be a stop-gap before something new but on the bright side It's good to know that in these uncertain times middle england, at least, will be chuckling for the foreseeable future.

Let's be honest. Anything new they come out with won't be as good as the 90s roster they're using now.

I fully expect if the plan is to keep these into 2015, they will add new creations in a similar style.

Indeed. Will we get more 90s idents on Network, and, who knows, even some 90s Christmas idents this Christmastime? I doubt it, but I remain hopeful Smile

Yeah, haven't really thought about what they'll do this Christmas. It will be interesting what approach they take. In some ways, I'd actually rather they did an original ident for Christmas, though something like the 1991 ident would be awesome. That one was so eerie.

I also hope that when new idents do eventually come along, they'll be new takes on the 1991-2001 approach. Perhaps a mix and match approach with some of the idents they're using now carrying on alongside. In many ways, the approach back then worked very well: introduce new additions over time and withdraw some. The period change of logos aside, there would never need be a wholesale replacement.

NI showed a Kebab sting at 11:50AM this morning, before Lorraine Pascale: How to be a Better Cook.

Unless somebody can confirm that there was a Kebab sting in the 1991-2001 era, I suppose it's possible it was a two-second snippet of Kebab ident (without logo), used as if it were a sting (?).

I suspect they'll probably use the Christmas ident they also used for the skiing/winter Olympics coverage a few years later. Can't remember the name, but it was a big snowy mountain '2' that a couple of smaller 2s skated off of.
