Rare? That's outright new. It's a CBBC programme they're advertising there, but the Saturday morning CBBC block is using BBC Two pres for some reason.

I apologise, I haven't been keeping up with the channel's output recently.

Just noticed on BBC Two HD during BBC News that there is a BBC Two DOG in the top left hand corner - is this new or has it been going on for a while?

I've just noticed this too. I hope it's a mistake and not permanent.

It's not on the SD version, and it isn't using the HD logo.

It's the good old stuck in 1997 Learning Zone DOG, not the first time it's happened.

What looks to be the fluffy dog prop 2 (Pedigree Comedy, 50th Birthday ident fame) on the set of Backchat...

...except it's now blue. Hmm. I really hope they haven't ruined it for the sake of a Jack Whitehall sketch, or is there more than one in existence?

I've seen it hanging around for a few months in its "blue" guise. I get the impression it was done a while ago, but don't know when.

Thanks for the reply, would presume it was done for a reason and not some unfortunate paint based accident? Seems a shame to have preserved it for so long otherwise.

It looks deliberate, but to be honest it also looks a bit scruffy when seen in the flesh... erm, fur.

Actually, I didn't link it in with being the same thing used in the 50th and Pedigree Comedy idents, but I'm quite unobservant about things like that! If it comes back after its trip to see Jack Whitehall, I'll give it a closer look.

Cheers, will be interesting to see if anything comes of it (or if someone just thought a new do might mask its age!). Not surprised it's a bit worn around the edges given its age. Certainly had their money's worth out of it.

I just assumed it was the same model as the 50th idents used a few of the old 2s from around that era, that I guess must have been handily knocking around (a great example of making the best out of what you've got)?

So if that's correct then not surprising it's looking a bit worn around the edges. Cheers, will be interesting to see if anything comes of it (or if someone just thought a new do might mask its age!).

There are quite a few old models used in the idents hanging around the Broadcast Centre. Some on display in a meeting room... and some "redeployed" into the NC2 con booth Smile

That's good to hear! I'd find it hard to resist setting the neon sign 2 up if it was still around. Smile

How about the original Green Fluffy Dog? Hope that's still lurking around. It's so cute!
