This all seems odd given that Newswatch is pre-recorded anyway, could he just not have gone down to the Basement Studio for the interview? Studio A is free for most of the day and it wouldn't have taken much longer.
Even if studio A was in use it wouldn't of decreased the quality of the programme if part of Newswatch was to come from Studio D or C

You have to bear in mind that even though a studio is available, it doesn't necessarily mean the entire crew is available to record the interview. If the Newswatch sound mixer is currently mixing the News Channel (I don't know the ins and outs of all the shifts, but it's pretty standard for crew members to work 12 hour shifts and across numerous outlets) then you're screwed.
Enjoying the banter between Simon McCoy and Norman Smith (at Downing Street) on the reshuffle coverage this morning. So far Simon's called him out on not hearing what a minister said while exiting No 10; having to read his notes toe check something; and not remembering the name of an MP who he called a question to.
Also confirms "The Papers" will be going ahead, says she'll be joined by "@oliver_wright of the Independent in London & @KevinMcKennaSez of the Guardian in Glasgow. 10.30pm & 11.30pm" Has this ever happened before?
Sorry to say that having a guest DTL doing the paper review doesn't work in the way they're trying it tonight.
I think it would work better if the guest remains on the plasma, rather than the picture cutting to the location shot full screen with the live/location Bug, when the presenter finishes talking.

Was just thinking: why isn't Newsnight simulcast on the NC. It really makes sense…doesn't it? It's already broadcast on WN late & I believe would fit - especially with upcoming cuts and schedule changes. Do you think there's a chance it could happen (especial since in spite of the cuts, Newsnight's budget has increased)

Guess the programme would have to be extended slightly to a hour to fit in the News Channel's schedule (and maybe that's why the budget has been increased). I agree that it's a good idea though.
