Is it just me who thinks the main floor still sort of looks like a building site/area? With the grey carpet tiles that look like concrete and the washed out red carpet tiles that look like they're caked in dust...?

It seems to me like a considered design choice. Considering the amount of visible concrete, it does blend in nicely at a distance, and makes a striking impression.

Don't be fooled by wide angle lenses. They distort the truth.

Presumably they won't be doing that once the News Channel broadcasts from the newsroom!

Using a mobile phone to do a contribution from another part of the building as the studio? Surely it would have cost tuppence to rig a radio mic?

Depends on the range required. There are LOTS of radio mics (and talkbacks) in NBH, so frequency and power management is a major issue.

The complete archive shows some TVC oddities like this:

Shocked Where on earth was that?!

Any chance there'll be much more from inside the East Tower? That was just about the only place I didn't get to explore whilst at the BBC.

And will new stuff be added to the top or bottom of the page?

I assume there are no plans to change the BBC News Colour from Red Anytime soon.

The staircase to nowhere is round the back of CCA. I *think* it once connected to the staircase on the right hand side of this plan (next to the 'snd app room'), but would have been severed when DTA was built.

It does look a bit like it never went anywhere - the ceiling is pretty solid-looking - but I think the sawn-off banister is enough of a giveaway.
