That's a lot nicer looking than I thought it would be.
I expected something like the TGV logo when it was described as 'curvaceous and interconnected letters'.
Kinda 70's/60's vibe from it.

I can see why it would be called childish, but I think it seems mature enough to support ITV's output.
Blue-only version would work fine for news.

I wonder if this is just the corperate logo? Or if this is actually for the channel, ITV?

Nowhere near as bad as I feared and I'm sure it'll work just fine for the news as presumably they'll be some flexibility in how it can be used. I'm more concerned with how it'll work for ITV2, 3 and 4 - it looks fine on it's own but not so sure how it'll look with a number tagged on.
And on CITV...

CITV should be fine - it's quite easy just to slap a logo on a big C. Indeed hope this means the end of the current CITV logo - the yellow TV just looks so dated and isn't anywhere near as nice as the original CITV channel logo (or indeed any CITV logo before that!)

It's horrible. I'm amazed how well it's being recieved on here. I've seen better mocks on here that have been ripped to shreds in a needlessly ruthless and personal way yet this is supposedly good. It's so horrible, in fact, that it makes the existing logo look positively highbrow. I'm actually genuinely excited to see, in a few years time, what replaces this. By convention, it should be more childish/chavish and ridiculous than the logo before it. I'd say it's not possible, but ITV have proven me wrong on that score before and this is the latest 'triumph' on their part.

Talk about rash judgment. A few blurry photos in no form of context and you're already dismissing it and wanting another rebrand? Get real mate. Shocked

Anyone EMPHATICALLY defending or lambasting it now - from the very little we have seen - is a fool.

A throwaway post and a cheap shot at ITV probably through rose tinted spectacles with a BBC logo on them.

I really like it. Its fresh in a way that ITV1 hasn't been for such a long time.

It's a logo and it says itv.

Asa, can you close this account off please (I know I've done this before under another name but seriously, I just don't care any more), I've realised I have no interest in TV presentation whatsoever any more.

The regions as we knew them is dead, like 10 years ago, move on.

It's the first step in a complete rebrand of the biggest commercial TV network in the UK. It's basically the epitome of what this forum exists for, and as you've been a member for at least three years I would've thought you'd have realised that by now. If you have genuinely lost interest, the polite thing to do would be to simply stop posting. Wading into a crowd of like-minded people to tell them how boring you find their conversation is incredibly rude, in real life or on the internet. If you're really adamant that you want your account closed, PM Asa or a mod; there's no need to say so in public.

As for my opinion (as everyone else is giving theirs), I like it more than I think I should. I mean, it's a lowercase joined writing logo, which is a massive cliché. But I like the font, particularly the v, and the colouring, although I realise this will probably be different on screen. I fail to see how it could work in a set of news titles, regardless of how "fresh" they are, but I look forward to having my mind changed.

It's interesting, and like Channel 5, I reckon it'll all be down to execution. When I first saw it, I was shocked, and not in a good way, but it looks nice-ish in Physical form, from the Intsagram photo. Therefore, if the ideas use a physical logo, I reckon it could all be pulled off quite nicely. How they'll fit ITV News into this is a mystery to me.

It's not that foolish to defend it. I actually really like not only what I've seen of the logo, but also of how it has been revealled. It's a proper brand launch and if everything is done as slick as this, there's no reason to doubt it could be phenomenally successful.
