Well, my favorite in-vision continuity from my Central days was Stuart White (Mr. I-haven't-really-been-at-Look-East-forever), and from Anglia, Graham Bell (the last one to use the Anglia clock - apart from the girl they bought in to cover for him when he died - nice memorial that - using the clock and his exact words 'It's 5.40 and this is Anglia Television' to cover the news intros in his shifts), and Michael Speake (white haired guy, when he did the birthdays with BC - hilarious). Nowadays, Pauline from C5 is by far the best (you know, the one always picking up errors in soaps, and telling us who was in what when! - marvellous).

Got to be Colin Weston.  I saw him during his Tyne Tees days............ just brilliant.  Seemed to be able to handle any situation and didn't take himself too seriously.  There's a great example on the Tyne Tees Logo Page.

I think the announcer with the clearest voice at the moment, as far as I've heard, is Adrian Finighan. He has a great announcing voice.

Yeah it was quite funny when the old countdown was still in action on World, when he would introduce himself!

Colin Weston was also a Granada regular. His outfits (when Granada still had ivc) had to be seen to be believed - he was always over dressed for a special occasion such as Christmas day. When he used to link into childrens programmes (pre CITV) he always referred to himself as Uncle Colin, in fact his only sober links were into the news. Where is he nowadays ?

I used to like Jim Pope too, he always seemed to be in control. he once gave an impromptu run down of the following days programmes to cover a breakdown and spoke for about 3 minutes without hestitation, repetition or deviation.

And of course what about dependable Charles Foster.

Uncle Colin gets my vote though!

Surprised Adrian Finighan hasn't been mentioned.
He's an announcer on TV as well as a News Presenter.
He's also an announcer on Radio 2 and a News Presenter, and sometimes has his own show.

Very versatile bloke
Smile

A little birdy tells me that Adrians talents have also delighted audiences with out-of-vision BBC Wales announcing (1&2), Network BBC1&2, Carlton, LWT & Anglia (i/v with BC the puppet! cor!!)

Also various trails for BBC1, Ronan Keating's 'Get Your Act Together', Blankety Blank (ITV & BBC), read the News on Sky, EBN, Midlands Today & Radio 1

Now that's a well travelled man!

Have a peek at his showreel... Adrians Showreel

Not forgetting Newsroom South East and Radio Norfolk(!)

Working with BC at Anglia must be a highlight though! (Does BC still feature in Anglia's Birthday Club - or is Puffins Pla(i)ce on Channel the last bastion of the childrens presentation in-vision puppet?

I think its a tie between Ade's voice and brilliantly British Alistair Yates. I think they are both excellent at what they do, and good role models for people like me, who perhaps one day would most definately like to follow in their footsteps (I'll have to lose my attitude problem by then though http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

We've had the top 20 everythng else so why not? If you are an announcer you are allowed to vote for yourself, which in my case is just as well.

So, we're looking for who and why?

Have fun!

In that case, ME, simply because I need the votes and a payrise at that!!

Other than that it has to be:

ITV: Mark Lipscomb (cos I know him and he's excellent) followed by Paul Vasey. Though Trish Bertram is in there somewhere.

BBC Network: Malcolm Garrett/Andy Cartlidge/Peter Brook
Female: (Beccy Wright)
BBC NI: Aaron Alexander/Michael Selby (sure they're the same person!) Jennie Brown
HTV Wales: Margaret Pritchard/Arfon Haines Davies
BBC Wales: Daloni Roberts/Steven Beaven

That's the vote of my jury! Smile

Ger - surely you have to add BBC Wales : Ilisa Factor

Smile

I'm sure she's moonlighting voicing network trails you know - there is a voice on BBC One England that sounds just like Ilisa...
