Well this is new - David Fitzgerald presenting BBC Spotlight, I have never seen him doing it before. Must be a blast from the past and his TSW days. He has certainly tarted himself up for it.

The boy done good tonight. Right down to the near cock-up where they weren't sure who was to go first, but he got over it perfectly with his "ladies first" remark.

Nice to see him back on the box in the south-west.

It was great to see him.

I was down at my Mum and Dad's at the time, and there was a collective "Ooh" when 'Fitz' appeared.

Yes he got over the little cock up very nicely, and he'll probably relax into it as the week goes by.

Doesn't he present on Radio Devon now?

Yes, he does the Friday phone in according to Victoria; who introduced him to the Spotlight audience once they were sat on the sofa.

It doesn't surprise me to see him presenting Spotlight. He used to present on Sky News as well as doing some TSW News bulletins, so he has experience.

I do like his serious delivery.... very different to how he comes across on the radio!

Anyone remember his 'piss-boiling incompetence' rant at IRN when they cocked up on a two minutes silence during his show on South Hams Radio? Laughing

Yes, this was much more like the delivery he gave on Sky News. At the end of the day, he is a consumate professional and knows how to tailor his presentation for the audience he has at the time. Unlike some people on the various forums and lists that I visit, I think that rant was entirely justified. He wasn't just a presenter of South Hams Radio, he was the one running the station and it gave us the kind of insight into the running of a radio station that we rarely get to see.

I think the polite expression is he's filled out since his TSW days. I'll leave it at that.

Here's a bit of Fitz doing some live feeds down at the Plymouth Flavour Fest this year.

What was that I just heard on The Westcountry Tonight? Something about ITV news "going back to the way it used to be" and the "money not being available at the moment due to digital switchover"?

Surely they're not going back on the idea of merging the regions? Shocked (would be good if they did!)
