Where was the hook in 'Capes'? Not too keen on that. (edit: listened to it again and I got it!) Just had 'Football' before 'Football Focus' - equally as strange, though at least the three notes were clearly identifiable.
In Wales we had 'Helicopter' into the news - agree with The Insider that it's less 'Silent Witness' but it's not really a 'sombre' ident any more.

Out of the five seen so far, Hippos and Bikes are the weakest and Kites is the strongest. More impressed than I thought I'd be.

I think that when these idents launched, I said something to the effect that the long form-up was great but that BBC1 are a bit crap and probably wouldn't be able to figure it out. To be honest, I'm amazed they held their nerve as long as they did. I thought they would hack the idents down long before this.

The problem with sometimes the programme starting before the ident fully forms is just down to them being useless at timing the links. Channel 4 has shown every single time that you can have a long form up, the announcer can finish before we see the '4' and the programme can start after the ident plays out.
BBC1 are just a bit crap about that and couldn't figure it out.

You did get me there but what I trying to say is they should have relaunched instead of cutting the idents up. I do like the kites music though.
They might be better if they design a brand new ident based on the new edits.

The whole idea of shortening the idents is completely wrong. It has taken the life out of what were brilliantly thought-out idents. The great visuals leading up to the formation of the BBC One logo have been completely cut out; they were the best bits, just before the logo formed. Cutting straight to the BBC One logo is not right at all.
I think all the music is hideous. Absolutely terrible. I don't think I'll ever get used to them. The original music was so much better.
A totally wrong idea to shorten them. I'm extremely disappointed and annoyed. I think they should revert back to the longer, BETTER versions.

Not all of us thought it was money wasted. I think it was money well spent to get rid of those Rhythm & Movement monstrosities. It is a waste of money to go all the way to Croatia to film Moon and then stop showing it!! Why make it in the first place. And once they cut out the form up sequences which is what the brief was, things coming together to make a circle, then that is a waste of money too. You might as well just have the BBC One logo with a swirl.
What these muppets should have done is incorporate these short versions with the long versions so there would be variety. I dread to think what's happened to Mission Control!
