Got to say, as much as I like Peter Rowell (I remember him from his apparance on Look & Read!), this morning's effort wasn't the best... but I will see what I think about the main bulletin later.

One thing I did think would happen, and it looks like it has... the backdrop of the Clifton Suspension Bridge was not there, so it looks like this may have gone.

Some may argue that Rowell's best work was on Look and Read with that little orange guy. ( no not Simon Parkin )Razz

The Suspension Bridge back drop was one of the best things about TWT. I was quite impressed that they had a snowy shot of it running when we had the bad weather a couple of weeks ago.

Does anyone know whether the recorded opt-out part of The West Country Tonight will always be for one region or will it be rotated so that each gets the 'live feel' to it from time to time?

I think it will be rotated, or if one region has live features/breaking news it will take priority as being broadcast live.

Lets hope they are going to do the change ala BBC London then, when they had a week with the studio in a temporary setup. From the screen grabs the set does not look complete.

Todays email newsletter doesn't indicate anything temporary about the half-completed studio set...the opposite in fact:

P.S We've made some subtle changes to the Spotlight studio. Well some of the changes are subtle, some of the others are a bit more dramatic. I hope you'll like what we've done.

As for Spotlight...they only seem to have refitted half the studio, so it now looks like a rather uncomfortable mix of old and new Shocked

Looks far far far better than the South Today mix of old, older, even older and new. Not talking about the presenters either!

It would seem 'The West Country Tonight' uses the old west tonight titles... so very Bristol/Gloucestshire centric

So here in Bristol we got the usual titles WTN tiles but with a WCTN endboard, and also the Clifton Suspension Bridge is on the back screen. Is that waht viewers in the old Westcountry region are seeing too?

Was just thinking they looked very Westcountry News like... shots of Plymouth and the Army dude on the boat!

Yes, the background was of the bridge

OK, I'm confused.

At this point we, in the Westcountry region, are getting stories just from this region. And we have the Brunel Bridge as the background too.

When do we get the joint output?

In about 10 minutes I believe.

Yeah, we are getting only Somerset, Glos, Wilts and Bristol news at the moment - must be the last 15mins that are joint. The opening must have been joint as Liza and Steve made a point of introducing themselves as if we had never seen them before. But we only saw them last week in in HTV land!!!

Well I must say that it's a bit of a fraud having Brunel on Screen from a show produced well over 100 miles away, but it is reassuring. I presume the second half will be the united region section. Based on the light level in Truro I'd say Westcountry has the live opt tonight.
