New Meridian, BBC South & South East Thread

The banter with Mike and Ron Lobeck was always brilliant.

I also heard he went to France (although according to Wikipedia he's now based in Spain) but his wife still works for Meridian AIUI - it's just a shame his departure from Meridian was so sudden after all those years. At least we knew Geoff was going to South East Today.

9th Feb is when the new pan-regional show starts.
Sad to see sports man Iain McBride say his farewell on the SE edition of Meridian Tonight on Friday. A true pro. Really sad to see all of these people who've been regular faces on our screens disappearing. Good luck to whatever they go into.
I'm sure the new service will be a poor imitation.

Yep, Sangeeta and Ian wished him well but understandably he wasn't in a cheery "let's pretend I'm happy" way you get so often in TV. All the best to him. Did like the handover where she made a reference to his surname off the back of a Burns' night story, only for him to deadpan point out the fact his name is actually Irish

And I thought I heard Sangeeta say she was away for 2 weeks? I guess yesterday was the last programme with them both presenting together - funnily enough no mention.



I await the "we've got an exciting new service for you" crap next Friday then.

So much for their ITV Local service. It's rubbish in my view...especially with Firefox.

If Sangeeta is having a two week break I'll be glad, tyhe reason? Well we will get 2 weeks away from her before her new role as main anchor.

Meridian SE has got a new backdrop

Slow preparations so it's not so daunting for the viewer when the revamp happens *ahem*

What is the new backdrop of please? As the itv local programme isnt up yet.

Also do we know if Amanda Piper is staying on the GMTV Bulletins with her awful shouty style!?

I don't think they are having a new 'Back Drop' they don't want to draw attention too much to the fact they are changing things around - I think new faces on a 'pan-regional' basis will be enough.
And yes, Amanda Piper has been put on GMTV 5 days a week from next week - terrible news I know, its the funny faces she pulls when reading a 'light & fluffy' story that makes me laugh! Can some one also teach these people how to speak properly - for example "5 people have been taken to hospitoool"
