Any date for the new meridian programme yet?

My local paper seems to think it's February.

The last Thames Valley Tonight will be onn the 6th February, so I'm guessing Wednesday the 7th. All the different regions are changing at different times. I think Meridian will be one of the first.

It will be so sad to see Debbie go Sad Her & Fred have a great on screen chemistry together & have co-anchored Meridian Tonight since 1993 (apart from a period when Debbie left for Radio 2) They make it an enjoyable programme with their banter & humour, they are genuinely great friends... I can't see Sangeeta being the same... Crying or Very sad

Im sure she will do a better job than Mary. Just seems so unfair to split Fred and Debbie up when its actually a good partnership and isnt forced like many.

Isn't Mary Green married to Robert Hall? Anyway, I didn't used to think she was that bad on Meridian, one that was really good though was Jane Wyatt... She had been reading the news down here since TVS & was "promoted" to co-anchoring Meridian Tonight when Debbie left for Radio 2, unfortuantely the management decided to get rid of her for an unknown younger model, a certian Miss Natasha Kaplinsky, who herself only stuck around for a year or two... Probably fair to say end of an era.

Still, what do I know, I still want to find out what happened to Mike Debens. Embarassed

Oh yes, Jane Wyatt was good, before TVS she was at BBC South, where she was underutilised . ISTR she started her career at Tyne Tees ?

Think he went into independent production. Have a feeling he moved to France - though I may be wrong.

Agree that both Jane Wyatt and Mike Debens were very good presenters. (I used to love TVS's Coast to Coast from Maidstone with Mike and Liz Wickham)
