hmm.
Anyone got any ideas who they'd like to fill Simon McCoy's shoes? I think Steve Dixon is still getting better, but only when he's got the right person sat next to him, ie Lorna Dunkley or Alison Bell. I haven't seen Alison for a while, is she doing more work for CNNi?

What about my sig find stupid do you?
And of course I do - but the morning news slot is a tough one to crack. Many want plain hard news in the <30mins they have to watch TV every morning, so they can see what's going on in the world before they go out. Then again, some like wishy washy news, which is what most programmes are doing, but never seem to be able to choose what they do. I think RI:SE MK1 was a prime example of this. At times it tried to present itself as a newsy programme, then it would swing straight to light entertainment -it could never really find its place like this.
I think news channels should do what they say on the tin - this includes N24 and give us just...news. If I wanted Breakfast, then I know I can watch BBC ONE - but I'm not likely to.
Damn - this has to be one helluva ramble without really heading into any form of conclusion...so, well, basically....Sky News (I never watch Sunrise so I can't comment on its current agenda) IMO should stick to the news.

Sunrise should stick to news, yes. I mean, if I want Breakfast-style or GMTV-style morning telly, then I can watch the BBC or ITV. Problem is, Sunrise used to give you the news, yet at the same time it was fun to watch in the morning. At the moment it's enough to send you back to bed again. Whoever thought Emma Crosby was a good investment...well, I hope they're not involved with the selection process for Simon McCoy's replacement. Yes, I think that they'll get a new member of staff. Steve Dixon's not going to be Mr Sunrise, because he's a 'fill-in', like Allan King.
I watch Breakfast in the mornings now. I'm quite taken with Bill and Sian...but I'd turn back to Sky if Sunrise was watchable, because I'm a news junkie.
