Here we go again - more unnecessary animosity raised by c@t. The point we're making is THE HUTTON RECONSTRUCTIONS WERE BORING!!! And only saddos stay up and read trial transcripts, even editors sometimes admit they get carried away and are out of touch with their audiences.

This was not "animosity" by C@T; rather it was a correction of your mistakes.
And for the record, when Holly and Jessica were missing, Sky News recorded their BIGGEST EVER viewing share... particularly on the day their two bodies were found. So it's really no surprise they are going so big on the trial.

They are still the only news channel that LEADS when it comes to trying new things, and new ways of covering stories and events. Their HUTTON Inquiry coverage was praised by the BBC (and will no doubt be copied at some stage); they way they fed straight from inside the hearing chamber has already been picked up and imitated by BBC and ITN and others;

Let's wait for the revamp of News 24 and ITV news Channel, and see how many more Sky News ideas they pinch.

I am delighted that someone understands the points made.

What saddens me is to see you, CPFC, continuing to make yourself look like an ignorant twit.

The day I ask you to put my opinions across really will be a time to shoot the messenger.

Thought some people might be interested in this article published in the Guardian yesterday about TV cameras possibly being allowed into the courts.

And I see that the Director's job was spotted in Media Guardian yesterday, but there's also some jobs going for graphic designers to work on Sky News.
Quote:

news graphic designers - creative services

We are looking for Graphic Designers to join our busy Sky News Design team within the Creative Services department. You will be responsible for providing daily design solutions for an award winning 24 hour news channel. A keen interest in news and current affairs is essential.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent creative, design and production skills.

You will have excellent communication and presentation skills and should have experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You will be self confident, pro-active and motivated with an ability to work unsupervised within a team structure. You must have good time/project management skills and the ability to juggle several projects simultaneously.

You will have formal design training - BA or equivalent in graphic/information design. Experience of design and graphics production in a live environment with the ability to make fast creative decisions, and an awareness of branding is essential. Knowledge of Apple Mac software including After FX, Photoshop and Illustrator is also essential, and knowledge of Paintbox and Hal would be useful.

To apply, please send your CV and covering letter quoting reference NGDCS to Geraldine Edgar, Graphic Design Manager, Creative Services, BSkyB, Grant Way, Isleworth, Middlesex TW7 5QD or email geraldine.edgar@bskyb.com

Closing date: 28 November 2003.

You seem an articulate, decent bloke, which is why I find it strange you choose to continue arguments over days and days. Calling me an ignorant twit is hardly calling a truce is it?

Anyway, back on topic, and bad news for Sky News Sunrise viewers:

He did seem to be looking miserable over the last few months, was he unhappy maybe?

It's been a source of much speculation on here over the past year or so whether or not Simon McCoy was happy at Sky, and that seems to confirm that the answer was no.

I've always thought that he was bored with being stuck on Sunrise - remember how much he seemed to perk up when he was covering the Iraq war from Kuwait?

It'll be interesting to see if he can rekindle the old magic with Natasha when he stands in for Dermot on Breakfast.

Surely you jest?
Any 'spark' between the 2 of them was purely from McCoy.
Kaplinsky was, is, and always will be, as natural at humour and ad-libs as a plank.

Well the BBC's emulation of SKYnews, has reached new heights. With the New Look News 24 on the way, they have moved from copying their presenting style and graphics, to using their presenters!

Well, perhaps the past clouds the mind, but I remember them as being quite watchable, which is more than can be said for Sunrise in its current incarnation. I have tried very, very hard, but I cannot watch Emma Crosby. There's something about her that really gets on my nerves, but I can't quite place it.

Anyway, Breakfast is the minor side of things. It'll be nice to see Simon working as a reporter again.

I always found Sunrise difficult to watch because Simon always seemed either bored or miserable of tired. I definitely got the impression he wasn't happy being on Sunrise.

Hopefully News 24 will give him a better shift when he's not covering for Dermot or Bill.

That's a shame about Simon McCoy, but in fairness he never looked very happy on the Sunrise programme anyway so I suppose it was a case of when, not if. I dare say he'll go back to Sky at some point.

How many of the original line-up does that leave now? I can only think of Kay and Vivien, and we know Bob retired and Simon's off and all the others left over the years.
