why change it and its virtually the same as the current one? stupid waste of time. and in the time of Covid and massive advertising short falls in the broadcasting industry globally....they better be careful when the accountants start looking around. You have a group of people sitting around doing work that has virtually no impact on anything. Just sayin...

These types of things are generally planned or earmarked well in advance, sometimes years. It could be something like “if we don’t do this now we won’t get the opportunity to do so for another few years”. In all reality the set could be done quickly by two people. Have two people break down the old one (that’s if it’s not saved or donated), an outside firm does the floor and two people probably could build the video wall in two days (I’m being generous with two days - it took MSNBC two days to remove part of the 3A walls and install the corner walls).

Kay doing a DTL interview with Hancock who appears to be outside NBH - just goes to show that doing a programme from Westminster doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get the politicians in person...

You see that a lot, its quite funny though how they go into NBH to do Breakfast when they aren't there, and then end up doing down the line interviews with Sky, when they are in London

If there's a big political guest they'll presumably also be in NBH for Radio 4 - though are Today's presenters still working from home? Going to Millbank would make more sense because then the BBC can still get a quality link and Sky get them in person. Though perhaps if you know you're going to get skewered by an interviewer you don't want to be in the same room as them.

Have you ever worked in a TV studio?
Set building is its own craft that's separate from installing video walls, which is separate from integrating them with your broadcast infrastructure, which is separate from lighting, and rigging for sound...
Add in the current requirements for social distancing meaning far fewer people working on set at the same time. We don't know what else was going on behind the scenes that caused this project to take so long. Maybe under normal circumstances they could have squeezed it into a week's parliamentary recess, but giving themselves until the end of the summer break gave them plenty of time to work with new dependencies and time for piloting, etc

Found this on Logopedia

This looks to be the new 2020-style Sky News logo.

*

Hoping they put it on screen soon.

Isn't this logo on screen already?

No.

Also this looks like a mock from here...

Edit: actually, all their recent uploads look like mocks.
Yeah, definitely. They include Sky Pick, even though Pick didn't rebrand, and Sky Sports Action, which won't receive a new logo yet because it's currently Sky Sports NFL.

Moving on to an unrelated matter, how is Sky reporting this news? The Sun and The Times were delayed this morning because of protesters blockading the printers. Sky used to also be owned by News Corp until recently, so I get the feeling the channel's response will be somewhat different from how it might have been a couple of years ago!

Worth pointing out that it’s not just Murdoch-owned titles which are affected. Here’s the story on the website: http://news.sky.com/story/extinction-rebellion-blockade-newspaper-printing-works-in-england-and-scotland-12064057

Do we know if Sophy Ridge is staying in the Glass Box or moving across to Westminster?
The restrictiveness of the previous Westminster studio made it an obvious choice to stay in the Glass Box, but you'd think Sky would want their flagship political show to come from their shiny new Westminster studio?

No. But I was specifically referring to the video wall build. A friend of mine does event production and has told me that once things are down a person could quickly build a video wall in a day or two - one similar to MSNBC’s 3A (which removed older video walls as well) that was done in a weekend. Additionally I’ve seen floors done quickly over two days (from time lapses of set construction and that one video of Peston’s set at ITV) and speaking to set designers on the process.

It’s a bit different here: the floor was torn up and relaid with a new design. It’s not just some paint or vinyl like you would find in other studios.

Um, if you watch Sky News on your telly, it's still the old logo. Imbecile. Rolling Eyes
