Vicki Young presenting straight out of the conference and then introducing Outside Source on the NC

Yes, and she brilliantly filled the time with an ad-hoc summary of events, without the need to be 'interviewed' by a colleague, and then did an in-vision continuity announcement into Outside Source.

I put her up there with Michael Brunson.

She’s great. I think she would suit something like the 5 or 10.

Many broadcasters are still at home of course, but meteorologist are the most using home studios across North America. Many using CSO tech in a variety of setups. I could be wrong, but this is the first VIDEO WALL home set up. Seems like ABC NEWS set up GMA meteorologist Ginger Zee with a huge video wall in her family room.

Here is what it looks like on air.

How ridiculous.

Many did say it was ridiculous and they were "showing off" when loads of North American broadcasters started broadcasting from their homes. Now that the rest of the world has followed suit to some degree, it all seems "normal". Who knows how long this mess will continue. OTT Certainly. I think a big monitor would have sufficed. (Notice they even included a panel that matches the GMA set design at the bottom.) We shall see right....

I get that “unskilled” sounds quite snobby, but doesn’t it refer to work that requires no qualifications to carry out?

It's an official term. Those kind of jobs are described as 'unskilled' in the likes of questionnaires, surveys and financial product applications. That's because you require no skills or qualifications to do the job.

Most peoples jobs are unskilled, mine is unskilled. Unless you work in a job that requires you to have had to go to university or have essential qualifications to do the job, it's unskilled.

People just like to create furore out of anything nowadays. We've got enough to be worried about nowadays without getting outraged over a newsreader using an official term.

I believe she said lower skilled workers. What I don't get is the outrage aimed at Fiona. I've just had a quick look online and found four other reports that use the very same language, all based on a Office for National Statistics report.

I wonder if she can watch films on it? Would be like having your own personal cinema after work!

I think he was expecting the Zoom host at Downing St to unmute him, not sure Zoom has that level of functionality?

Worth noting that the first remote division is now taking place in the House of Commons, coverage on BBC Parliament.

I've noticed an increasing use of the phrase 'PPE Equipment' by some journalists on TV. Why not just say 'Personal Protection Equipment' if they think their audience can't understand?

It's far better than going down the route of 'PIN Number'.

It just makes me think that they don't actually know what the abbreviation means, which doesn't lend much credence to their report.
