Isn't that just the edge of the balcony which happens to be aligned with the lower thirds?

Is that a little set with a green screen/curtain?

Is that the last 2003 era desk still in use?

And more to the point, does this qualify as the reason why Katty Kay appears to be in a different studio for tonight's Beyond 100 Days.

Yup, even was retained when they retooled the studio to go HD a few years ago.

The desk has been there for ages. They’ve had the same set design for almost 8 years it seems. When they retooled the studio for HD I think some monitors were replaced but the design wasn’t noticeably different.



Edit : The current set goes back to 2008 when Matt Frei still hosted....

FYI, it was mentioned on the BBC World News | October 2019 Onwards thread.

The BBC would do well to update their title graphics for all its news bullitens- basic and outdated
