BBC One special Scotland bully isn't on the News Channel - must have a special way of delivering it now (probably the same as that used for a Scotland special on BBC Two on Harry & Meghan's wedding day IIRC?). News Channel finished with World News Today with Nuala McGovern until 21.31 (would have overlapped Scotland bulletin on BBC One) and now running D-Day 75 programme.

Presumably because the News Channel is in 'World' WNT mode, the usual NC facilities are available unilaterally for the Scotland Bulletin.

Surely now they do the Nine BBC Scotland could deliver the bulletin themselves.

Hmm I feel like internal BBC politics makes that a non starter plus it would be duplication. You'd expect the vast majority of the bulletin to be the same as the rest of the country receives at 10pm.

The news channel never takes BBC One news if its between 21:00 and 21:30 anyway

News at 5 appears to be from Studio D today, not sure why though, as they were in C earlier in the week.

Maybe World are using C if B is out of action?

New Year but back on same old subject as coming back in after a couple of days Laughing
The studio facilities have been available in past years but BBC One Scotland used to literally 'take' News Channel as that had to remove its ticker for the duration of the programme. Now there must have been a routing to allow BBC One Scotland to broadcast the programme even though it was apparently not available on any other channel. So it was nothing to do with studio facilities being available - they are there, after all, for occasions when the News Channel, quite regularly these days, doesn't carry one, or more, of the main BBC One bulletins due to some major story - Studio E is perfectly capable of being broadcast by BBC One only although it seemed to need BBC One London routing for it to be available to BBC Scotland when not on the News Channel in the past.

News Channel did carry a BBC Weekend News at approx. 9.25pm one occasion. They ended WNT earlier than usual to do so - thought they might do the same for the BBC One bulletin, this time for Scotland only. Especially as in the past that has required the News Channel to be showing it for it to be available to BBC One Scotland (when not on England BBC One). There is obviously now a routing that doesn't need it to be broadcast by another channel to be picked up by BBC One Scotland. Both Scotland and rest of UK bulletins were live, and the Scotland only bulletin also available this time on the I-Player for much of the following day. They would have to be from the normal London studios to give the impression of a UK bulletin, although the London-presented one for Scotland only was slightly tilted to Scotland, carrying more detail on the Edinburgh festivities (but not much more detail, only very subtly) and missing out the report on the national living wage (which presumably related to England this time).

So let me try to understand the gist of this - beforehand BBC One Scotland could only take UK wide bulletins by using the News Channel (yes I know it’s not the name but it’s easier to distinguish) feed. Why couldn’t they take the clean BBC One feed that goes out in England?

I think we are talking about occasions when BBC Scotland has a separate national bulletin from the rest of the UK for scheduling reasons.

I seem to recall in the past they used the NC feed rather than a direct circuit from Studio to make sure they got the subtitles.

Because BBC One in England didn't have news on.
I understood BBC One Scotland (and Wales and NI) normally get the news via England BBC One (every normal weekday all day round) but for Scotland only bulletins that obviously didn't work. They (Scotland) had to join the News Channel instead - I remember one year they had News Channel ticker throughout the BBC One bulletin (in Scotland). Then that was corrected in subsequent years by the News Channel bowing to BBC One (Scotland) and not having any ticker for the 15 minute duration. That was still the arrangement in 2018. But last year (now) there has obviously been some way for BBC One Scotland to get the news, presumably by direct circuit from the studio, despite not being on BBC One elsewhere or on the News Channel.

No idea whether there were subtitles on the Scotland bulletin this time - I didn't think about that.
