Just watched the video and I could see what you meant by Dave being sarcastic, sure it might not had been 100% with the kids but hey, it's good to experiment and I found it OK. I reckon he could of had a few episodes if he would tried to keep the sarcasm to a minimum, especially if it's a children's show, were trying to entertain them as well as trying to teach something from this.

Was it In The Night Garden that they redid with a sarcastic narration a couple of years ago, that upset the kids so much they went back to the originals after only a couple of days?
No, that was Waybuloo. with Dave Lamb's Come Dine with Me voice.
Ahh, all those shows merge into one with me, when I've had to be tortured with them with my nephews and niece... I'm just glad when I can finally turn it off
Scary to think that already they'll be sone people who watched CBeebies as a kid now watching with their own.
Seems that children's television is secretly becoming creepy if you think about it
No more creepy now than anything in the 80s and 90s.
I dare say the 70s with those "Public Information Films" (which were not "children's programmes" as such though some were aimed at children) were probably more scary. This one, it is alleged, traumatised no end of kids:

Now that kind of video gives you that feeling of fear.

Apaches was worse. Still got shown that in Primary School in 2004 (Admittedly there were farms about 20 minutes walk away). May have seen The Finishing Line or some moderner version of it as well.
Then in Secondary we got shown a drink driving one where a girl and her boyfriend get crushed against a wall.

God, Apaches, I didn't see that until well into my 20s and I still found it disturbing... especially the kid that drinks the weedkiller. God knows how it affected kids.
The worst thing I remember them showing us at school was a very 90s short film about playing in substations, where a kid got fried picking up a spray paint can I seem to remember.
