"BBC seeks a ‘British Simpsons’ for children in homegrown animation drive"

Why is a children's channel after something like The Simpsons? It's not a kids show.

The same with the recent fuss over the content warning on The Muppet Show... its not a kids show

I read the article as meaning they want something that is a pop culture success like The Simpsons - not that they literally want to do a British adaption of the Simpsons itself.

Possibly, I imagine that's probably what was said, but the news article misinterrepted.

The BBC doesn't seem to me to be that short on home-grown animation though

Doesn't surprise me that the rest of the top 10 is more Tracy Beaker, and Sarah Jane.

I suspect Sarah Jane would have run for quite some time had Elisabeth Sladen not died when she did. IIRC she died during production of a series, so it had to be cut short and I think it only ran for three episode out of a planned six or seven?

Three two-episode serials out of six, yes. Had she not died we'd at least have had the rest of that season, and a sixth.

As a result of the return of BBC Three, CBBC will return to ending at 7pm. They only really air repeats in those slots anyway.

i think it's disgusting there wanting to revert it back as i think it's been a success they've brought back The Story of Tracy Beaker in that slot and these alot to it and kids enjoy watching shows like the next step from the beginning and that etc... and CITV also go till 9pm and come on who really cares about BBC3 anymore cause i don't not as a tv channel you might well say they only got rid of it to save bit of money and now they want to bring it back but wait till tv license goes then it be gone again i bet ya

... and breathe.
Anyway CBBC doesn't stop and end at Tracy Beaker, even if it feels like it sometimes.
