It wasn't rating very well and This Time Next Year is probably its successor in terms of it being a real stories studio show.

That's odd. It never seems unpopular in my eyes. But ah well.

Most of Thames News from 9th July 1980, top story the Holborn Tube crash. Note the use of full screen chroma-keying behind the presenters and the slightly nervous Francis Wilson doing the weather

And a full episode from 1982. Interesting IBA ad for Channel 4 at the end too:

The one thing Ive notice is there is very little of Andrew Gardner on these Thame news clips, ie on line.

That full screen chroma-keying looks horrible, particularly the first shot where the presenter looks to be out in the street.

The Crystal Maze out-takes - with occasional gallery "input". Exasperation it would seem was never far away.

Who remembers Nightwatch with Steve Scott which was repeated ad nauseum late at night nearly 10 years ago.

I believe if memory serves me right it was filmed in Central East's studio in Birmingham.

This is a curious one - this clip has been on YouTube for almost four years but the way it's been titled and labelled means nobody seems to have ever watched it, with just 120 views in all that time. It's the opening titles and intro to ITV's coverage of the Moscow Olympics from the afternoon of Thursday 24 July 1980, introduced by Dickie Davies.

(Spoiler: the Osgerby twins didn't win.)

As the blog suggests, this was seemingly a pilot for a series that never happened where Lord Bob talks seriously about the business of comedy. Rather a shame it never went any further. For some reason I never watched this at the time, despite the fact I watched and recorded everything else to do with comedy.

Wow, what a shame more of that wasn't made. Would love to have seen more interviews in that style with Bob. Reminded me of the conversation with Mike Yarwood that was recently shown for the first time.
