There is an interview with UKTV's Darren Childs in this week's Broadcast where he says they're looking at more sport for Dave and though they're not going to go for the Premier League or anything, they think there are a couple of sporting events that would ve a good fit "including darts and snooker".

Just to say on the 2016 World Snooker Championship the BBC are continuing with putting World Snooker Highlights after Newsnight around 11.15pm on BBC Two then switching over to BBC One for Snooker Extra which has also been extended to 3 hours on BBC One from around 12.15am right through the early hours of the morning which is what they did with the last BDO World Darts Championship they covered and the Masters Snooker earlier on this year, they also now have a programme called Crucible Classics from around 3am to 5am before joining BBC News for the last hour. So far Steve Davis v Jimmy White (1984 Final), Alex Higgins v Ray Reardon (1982 Final) and Steve Davis v Tony Knowles (1982 1st Round) have featured.
Only other thing to mention is Peter Ebdon has joined the team for the tournament after his early departure and George Riley who is there as a reporter for BBC Radio 5 Live also commentated last night on the Ricky Walden v Robbie Williams which according to his twitter he was called in to fill in for Steve Davis who was unavailable.

Alan Shearer has extended his contract with the BBC until 2020. He will continue work on MOTD, MOTD2, FA Cup and International Tournaments including Euro 2016 this summer. He is also fronting a new documentary on 20 years since Euro 96 in the build up to Euro 2016.

The BBC are also using IMG to produce their golf coverage this year which at present is 4 days live for the Women's British Open which I believe is the last year before it moves to Sky and 4 days highlights for the Open Championship. They will also produce highlights shows from the PGA Championship, The Scottish Open and The Ryder Cup.

I see the BBC's London Marathon coverage has a #getinspired dog in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

I was hoping to read some opinions on the current snooker coverage , commentary really . I have some complaints as well as joys ! , which I wondered if anyone else shared .... or not . Having read some comments though , It seems , the site is more technical than opinionated ! Whilst some posts are of limited interest , most are inexplicable to me , in that they seem to make a statement of fact , but without a reason given as to recommendation or further elucidation of any kind .
Either the dicussion element needs livening up : a bit more expansion on what is meant would be welcome : the moderation needs to go or I am on the wrong kind of site ?

Just post your opinion - people will either join in or not. We're very much here to discuss the presentation of things on TV, and that includes how they're commentated on. That may seem to be lacking lately but that's probably more down to the lack of sport on TV in recent weeks more than anything else.
Personally I think it's pretty much impossible for any commentator to make snooker appear interesting.

Kind of like being invited to your new neighbours' house party before proceeding to inform them their conversation is horrendous and slapping their dog for good measure.
