Actually the hybrid brings back memories of the Carlton HTV hybrid idents!
Although pretty much no love went into them - the switch from the ident to the GMG endcap was quite jarring however much they tried to smooth it out with a transition. I'm sure they could have done something better, even if it was placing the logo on the stars background.

Of course what they should have done, based on some opinions here, is write HTV in that Gill Sans style Carlton font, with a star at the end.

Sorry to be a pedant, but it wasn't a GMG endcap... HTV was never owned by Granada.

It still strange how people can be confused how htv worked between 1998 to 2002.
Unm used Granada presentation when the hearts come in.
When Granada sold off htv to keep the regulator happy which part did there keep? Studios or productions or transmtion suit?
Not confusing at all.
"......This resulted in a break-up of HTV, whereby its

Channel 3 broadcast licence

I think the issue more so is that, as far as I always understood, the Hearts idents and branding were an ITV Network initiative, not a Granada one?
Yes, absolutely. They were ITV Network idents and were used by United News & Media regions in addition to those used by Granada. Carlton variants were produced but they opted to use their own presentation.
Has any signage etc on/around Havelock House changed to "Wireless Group" branding yet? Or is it still all the pre-existing UTV branding? Or is there now a mixture of both names? Or what?
All still UTV signage that I've seen. Doubt that Wireless Group signs will go up, as Havelock House is now owned by ITV. WG (and U105 as part of that) will be looking for a new home... which will leave only UTV (ITV) in that building.
It's far too big a building for the needs of a TV news programme only (scenery building woodwork shop, 3 studios spaces, tape and film archive storage rooms, radio studios, loads of office space, boardrooms, etc). It's a good plot of land right between city centre and residential areas... I would imagine the idea is to sell it off, and move UTV Live to another location.

I believe Border wasn't yet owned by Granada when the hearts were introduced either.
Wasn't that because they just rebroadcast Meridian for chunks of the off peak rather than staffing their own pres department, so it added a bit of consistency?
