Following a discussion in The Lounge, it is known that people get slightly annoyed about loads of different regional threads

So in response. this is a new thread which will incorporate all talk about these topics:

- Look North and Calendar thread talk
- YTV Weather
- Inside Out, The Super League Show, The Politics Show
- Yorkshire Television's regional programmes
- YTV Presentation
- BBCi and YTV Websites
- Where and when Belmont transmitter can be picked up in York (or maybe not!)

Starting with the news...

- As already briefly mentioned, Yorkshire weather has new sponsorship this week

- Calendar this week is being presented by Gaynor Barnes and Geoff Druett

- Nothing special is happening on Look North at the moment, at least the Leeds version, although the Chuckle Brothers were on the show this week

- New YTV regional programmes start this week. "I Spy Love" is tommorow at 11.30 and "Walking the Line" with Ian Clayton is on Sunday at 5.45

Did Peter and Helen do a live interview with them?

Why on earth were the chuckle brothers on Look North?

I know ashley b has mentioned this in the Central West/BBC Midlands thread but why haven't YTV given Calendar some new titles and a new set?

Calendar hasn't changed for three years while North East Tonight on Tyne Tees has had two title changes and three different sets since then.

They're from Rotherham and they have a tour to plug

Because we like tradition in Yorkshire and also the current look works well

The previous blue look was used for about 4 years, so a revamp of Calendar isn't quite due yet, though if they are going to change it they may in September, when relaunches usually happen. The soft set is much newer though, and is the 3 way news graphic, and is the GMTV Calendar Yellow look

When Calendar last relaunched in September 2000, the programme was presented by Christa Ackroyd and Mike Morris!

Though I'd like to see a mini-relaunch including

- Longer opening titles, based on those that were used for Calendar Pick of the Week

- Newsroom and Humber Bridge pictures reinstated on the background of bulletins

Oh Aye those were the days! Laughing
Anyway the set looks fine, it's just the titles which are a bit boring and not very dramatic or anything inparticular. The titles just need a revamp, after all Look North have had a slight revamp since then too.

Oh and another idea for a bit of a revamp...

A nice bit of chevron should be included on the astons as well, just like in the previous blue look.

I'd also sort that soft set out, the layout is all wrong, plus it features glass blocks which were left over from Live Lunch!

At least they don't use that fake wall mounted plasma anymore, where everyone used to have to stare up at something which wasn't there.

I think Calendar's studios have the facility to walk between desk and soft set, so they should to that as well!

Are you trying to cause trouble, Andrew? Confused

I think maybe they should use the kitchen bit as well sometimes, it could be used for some interviews as a change to the soft set while having a cup of tea and things like they used to do on Live Lunch and Calendar Lunchtime Live. The thing I don't like about the soft set is the chairs, they look really uncomfortable to me. And the fake plasma was really bad, I remember the first time they used it on Lunchtime Live, the picture overlapped the 'frame' in parts.

And I agree about the chevron.
