Well that was a bit odd! Gillian just signed off her last link with "And it's been great, thank you!" 🤔
Was that all she said? A normal announcement with that line tagged on the end?
Yeah, just a normal announcement into Paul O'Grady For The Love of Dogs and then that tagged on the end! What was even more odd though was the fact that she was back in vision again at 9 o'clock for the next junction!

Apart from the fact that ITV bosses will no doubt be making sure that all end-of-an-era stuff is kept as low-key as possible, there's not much that can be put across in a 30-second link which also has to introduce a programme.

Usually promos don't have the talent (if they are doing the time/day announcements) left on, we cut to a standard UTV end board with awful font and a local voiceover saying the date and time "...on UTV". Interesting that they are now changing that. Did the ad end with any UTV end board or logo on screen, old or new?

That was odd. "It's my last night at UTV, thanks for watching - keep on watching - it's been great, etc" would have made more sense to viewers and probably not pissed ITV off.
Gosh, almost not worth bothering, wasn't it? I understand that on a personal level, she 'got to say goodbye'... but for the casual viewer who didn't already know - well, it was a bit cryptic!

It almost felt like a follow up comment to an earlier announcement. I'm not suggesting she did and nobody caught it, but an announcement like the one I suggested could have been made in her first link (7pm) with a couple of quick "it's been great" comments tagged onto later links.

Poor Gillian. She only had 15 seconds so I can understand and see she's stuck for what to say within that time.
I remember talking to a former itv1 announcer and he said to me "Why didn't I say this instead" to sign off before it became itv again.
So she'll no doubt be saying that tonight.
We'll still see her on the news I reckon so that could be why she didn't say goodbye.
Maybe Julian's got a big farewell up his sleave!!
Autumn is well under way now folks..... changes ahoy!
